Justice For Chumash is dedicated to protecting the identity, culture, and homelands of legitimate Chumash families. They educate the public about the real Chumash peoples, their history, and culture, while addressing the growing issue of "race-shifting", also known as “Pretendians.” Through writing, organizing, advocacy, education, and consultation, they work to ensure truthful representation and empower verified Chumash communities. They advocate for land back, meaning to return land stewardship to the traditional stewards of the land, the Chumash. This would include a decolonization process of our society and community, which YCEF fully supports, and encourages others to as well.
Watch a panel of local Chumash and other indigenous leaders, activists, etc discuss decolonization and land back for a "Ventura County" on Youtube here.
The 805UndocuFund Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF) offers direct financial relief to undocumented and mixed-status families residing in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties impacted by immigration enforcement—including those currently in deportation proceedings or whose loved ones have already been deported. By addressing urgent financial needs, the EAF ensures families can stay together, access vital services, and navigate unimaginable hardship with the support they deserve.
We call on our community, allies, and supporters to stand in solidarity with immigrant and migrant families who continue to be targeted by racially motivated and discriminatory immigration policies. Under the current administration, it is estimated that at least 46% of individuals arrested by ICE had no prior criminal record—yet families are being torn apart, livelihoods disrupted, and entire communities pushed further into the shadows.
Assistance may be used for critical needs such as:
Rent or mortgage payments to prevent eviction or housing instability
Utility bills to maintain access to basic services
Transportation related to legal proceedings, family reunification, or emergency relocation
Other urgent expenses directly connected to the family’s safety and well-being, including legal fees
Join us in supporting this critical work—because dignity, stability, and justice are not privileges, they are human rights.

Every dollar raised through this fund will go directly to families in need.
Send an email to your local City Council representative letting them know you support the following demands: (Demandas en español aqui)
I. SVPD Disclosure
We demand that the Simi Valley Police Department formally disclose on record any and all involvement, direct and indirect, with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E) agency. The people deserve to know the extent of SVPD's collaboration and operations assistance with all immigrant enforcement processes. This includes disclosure of any coordination, communication, or joint operations between SVPD and I.C.E.
We demand that the Mayor of Simi Valley follow the example of the Mayor of Chicago by holding a public press conference declaring that she and the City of Simi Valley stand with immigrant communities and oppose I.C.E raids within our city limits.
We demand the City Council:
Reinstate SVPD community town halls to ensure transparency, accountability, and direct communication with residents.
Meet consistently with local organizers and community advocates who are assisting families impacted by ICE activity and representing concerned constituents by creating a Community Oversight Council to review SVPD conduct, complaints, and collaboration with external agencies.
Cease all SVPD collaboration with I.C.E, both formal and informal.
Apply consistent oversight to ensure that federal officers operating within Simi Valley comply with all city ordinances.
We demand the City Council follow the lead of San Jose and Santa Clara County by introducing and passing an ordinance to:
Ban ICE agents from staging or conducting operations on city-owned property, establishing official “ICE-Free Zones”.
Restrict ICE’s access to city data, facilities, and other municipal resources.
Mandate that all federal agents including I.C.E. operating within Simi Valley be unmasked and display proper identification while performing official duties.
We demand that the City Council:
Establish an Emergency Immigration Legal Defense Fund, modeled after Santa Ana’s program, to assist community members impacted by ICE operations.
Fund “Know Your Rights” education campaigns targeting vulnerable immigrant communities, ensuring residents are informed of their legal protections.
Incorporate 501(c)(3) resources in City buildings & online departments to increase access to knowledge for residents about community-led resources.

Ranked Choice Voting is a system where you rank candidates in order of preference, and if your top choice doesn’t win, your vote goes to your next choice until someone gets a majority. It has multiple benefits including:
Reduces Vote-Splitting – Similar candidates can't steal each other’s votes, allowing progressives to support their top choices without fear of "splitting" the election and encouraging third-party candidates.
Weakens the Lesser-Evil Guilt – Voters don’t have to settle for the "electable" option; they can rank their true preferences.
Levels of the Playing Field – Newcomers and grassroots candidates can win by building broad coalitions instead of relying on financial backing from corporate establishments.
Rewards Coalition-Building – Candidates succeed by appealing to a diverse base, not just a narrow primary electorate.
Reduces the Power of Big Money – Big money (or dark money) candidates have a harder chance of winning because they can no longer rely on misinformation, fear-mongering, and attack ads.
Challenges Incumbent Advantage – Encourages new people in politics by making it easier for challengers to run.
Reduces Voter Disenfranchisement – Makes elections more representative of the electorate, particularly for younger, more diverse voters.
