Cif Single Chip Driver Webcam UPDATED

I was finally able to install a CIF single chip webcam driver for my generic HP webcam. It took two days, but I was able to find a driver at the following site:

I used driver version 1.0.4.15, dated: Release Date: 2009-04-30.

The first driver installer is for their own driver updater, which works if you purchase/register their software; which I did not do. It took a couple of minutes for my Windows XP Pro SP3, to install and detect, but after a couple of minutes, I was able to see the imaging device in Device Manager. The driver comes as a zip file, so make sure you have an unzip software program, like 7Zip, WinZip, or PK-unzip. My WOT extension in Seamonkey, shows driverscape as a good site and I malware scanned the zip file before unzipping and installing; I checked with Malwarebyte's MBAM and Avast!

I hope this helps somebody. I looked at two dozen various cif webcam drivers, sites, etc, and nothing worked; but this driver from driver scape finally worked!

The cameras typically came with a USB interface cand cable. The single-chip design made it a cost-effective as well as a very compact solution for video capture. Its simplicity eliminated the need for multiple imaging components in the camera. This reduced the costs and everyone could afford one. The resolution was very low and the image quality was very grainy.

I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 x64 alongside Windows 7. But Now my webcam is not working while i am on ubuntu. The same is working fine with windows. Cheese doesn't even detect the same. Its an HP EW192AA cif single chip usb webcam.

My Genius Eye 110 webcam is not working on Manjaro Gnome. I am running 5.9.16-1-MANJARO; the driver for this camera is pac207 which comes with the gspca module. It is installed, but Cheese will not recognize any camera, applications like Zoom recognizes the device as CIF Single Chip.

Many webcams that you connect to your computer via USB cable are CIF single-ship cameras. These cameras are compatible with the Windows operating system. If you have recently upgraded the OS on your computer, you may need to re-install the driver. The CIF single-chip driver is software that allows the computer to communicate with the camera.

The same two power management modes, active and power-removed, must be supported by the on-SoC image processing units. The SoC vendor defines the individual components that comprise the image processing units and their power management states. We recommend that a single driver control the on-SoC image processing units, and that all the image processing units for camera capture be presented to the power engine plug-in (PEP) as a single power-managed component.

The camera subsystem should be exposed to Windows through a single AVStream minidriver called a camera controller driver. We recommend that the camera controller driver not access hardware directly and not directly power-manage hardware components. Instead, the camera controller driver should forward power management and hardware requests to other the drivers that comprise the camera subsystem.

The on-SoC image processing hardware should be power-managed by the SoC power engine plug-in (PEP). I have not tried Blue Iris yet, but the install from the demo Active Webcam has a BTinstaller utility that may work for you. You run it the first time and select remove all BT878 drivers and then run it again and choose install BT878 drivers. The file is an exe in the Active webcam directory. In the next day or 2 I hope to try Blue Iris, maybe we can help each other out. I also want to use IP and analog cams also.

So i guess im just going to have to buy a 2nd card.. I was looking at the geovision gv-600 but have noticed it only has 1 chip as well.. i only have maybe another 100-150 to spend. Does anyone know a decent card with 4 chips that i can get D1 recordings from and atleast 7.5fps on each camera? and a WDM driver

That ROM might be written at the factory that made the chip or by the people who made the camera and put it all together.
