The Materials Physics and Optoelectronics Research Group focuses on experimental research in materials physics, with particular emphasis on crystal growth, semiconducting chalcogenides, and optoelectronic materials for applications in photodetectors, sensors, and photocatalysis. Our work spans the synthesis of bulk crystals, nanoparticles, and thin films, supported by systematic defect engineering and compositional tuning to tailor structural, optical, and electrical properties. Through extensive use of advanced characterization techniques, we establish clear structure–property–application relationships that bridge fundamental materials science and device-oriented research.
A defining feature of our group is its strong commitment to research-driven innovation and the generation of intellectual property. We have developed and registered multiple laboratory instrument designs with the Patent Office of the Government of India, addressing practical challenges related to safety, precision, and performance in experimental research environments. In addition, our work includes a government-registered copyright in advanced simulation methodologies, reflecting original intellectual contributions that extend beyond experimental studies. Together, these efforts highlight our group’s focus on originality, translational relevance, and sustained scientific impact.
