About
Yash Gopal Mittal is a direct-to-Ph.D. candidate in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India. Under the direction of Prof. K. P. Karunakaran, his research focuses on screw-extruded polymer additive manufacturing (PAM) employing cable robots. Yash graduated with honors from Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
During his academic career, Yash has gained a lot of research expertise, including positions as a visiting researcher at Purdue University, where he developed analytical models to investigate various additive manufacturing (AM) processes. Yash's areas of research interest include mathematical modeling in rapid casting and AM techniques, and developing biomedical devices. He has made significant contributions to the field, and has relevant publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings.
Apart from his scholarly pursuits, Yash is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring. He has taught SolidWorks and 3D printing courses at Panjab University as a Course Instructor. He has assisted as a Teaching Assistant at IIT Bombay in a number of courses related to Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Manufacturing Automation, Rapid Product Development, Engineering Graphics and MakerSpace Labs.
Yash is a recipient of various academic honors including Technical Role of Honor (RoH) by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay. He was also invited to be technical session chair in the 51st North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC-51) at Rutgers University, New Jersey. Additionally, he is the recipient of numerous honors and grants, such as the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) and 13th BRICS Youth Summit from the Government of India.
Yash is an avid reader and traveler. He also likes cooking and listening to music.
With a strong passion for research, Yash is keen on making significant contributions to the field of additive manufacturing, in order to make this world a better place to be.
