The Yarrawonga Mulwala Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Yarrawonga, Mulwala, and surrounding districts. Formed in 1967, our members have worked tirelessly to collect, protect, and share the stories, objects, and achievements that have shaped our region.
Our long-held dream of establishing a local museum became a reality in 1994, when the former Indoor Sports Centre—generously made available by ClubMulwala—was transformed into the Yarrawonga Mulwala Pioneer Museum. Officially opened on December 10, 1994, the museum has since welcomed over 51,000 visitors, offering a fascinating glimpse into local history through an eclectic collection of items and machinery.
Thanks to dedicated volunteers and ongoing community support, the museum has expanded over the years and remains a vibrant centre for historical discovery. With climate-controlled galleries and outdoor exhibits, it’s an ideal destination for families, history enthusiasts, and school groups alike.
We invite you to explore the stories of our pioneers and discover the past that shaped our future.
