JUNIOR WHITECAPS:
Criteria: Athletes should be 7 years of age. They should have knowledge of freestyle, be able to float on their front and back and swim to the end of the pool unassisted.
Program Structure:
This program is offered for 8 weeks. There are 3 - 8 week sessions throughout the season.
• Swimmers will learn the basics of competitive swimming.
• Introduction to all four strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterly.
• Basic skills like flip turns, touch turns, stroke transitions, dives, underwater pull, dolphin kick and breathing techniques.
Session Information and Training Schedule:
Session I: October 7th - November 27th, 2025 (FULL - wait list started for Session II).
Session II: January 13th - March 5th, 2026
Session III: March 24th - May 14th, 2026
Practices: Twice per week, on Tuesday & Thursday - 5:00-5:30pm.
Cost: $150.00 per session.
NOVA TECH AQUA KIDS:
Criteria: Athletes should be 8 years or age or older, have knowledge of front & backcrawl and be able to swim a few laps of the pool unassisted (Lifesaving Society: Swimmer 5). All swimmers start in this program.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Participation:
• Attend sanctioned competitions.
• An introduction to competitive swimming.
• Keep kids moving, enjoy swimming and develop a love for the sport
• Focus on basic skills, technique, short duration speed
• Multi-stroke development to facilitate well versed swimmers
• Support a learning curve for the rules of swimming in a safe environment
• Learn to race (without disqualification)
• Graduation from this level is done combining skills learned and time achievements at sanctioned competitions.
• Graduation can occur all season, swimmers progress at their own rate.
Training Schedule:
Swimmers practice twice per week, on Tuesday & Thursday - 5:00-5:45pm and occasionally Sunday's (in Clare) around 1x/month.
Level 1 & 2:
• Keep kids moving, enjoy swimming and develop a love for the sport
• In-house training skills are transferred to a competitive racing environment
• Multi-stroke development to facilitate well versed swimmers with the introduction of greater distances
• Continue to support a learning curve for the rules of swimming in a safe environment
• Learn to race (with a progressive approach to disqualifications)
• Graduation from this level is done combining skills learned and time achievements at sanctioned competitions.
• Graduation can occur all season, swimmers progress at their own rate.
Training Schedule:
• Swimmers practice twice per week, on Tuesday & Thursday - 5:45-6:30pm (Level 2: Friday - 4:00-5:00pm) and occasional Sunday's (in Clare) around 1x/month.
AGE GROUP:
Criteria: Successful completion of the Nova Tech Aqua Kids program or at coaches discretion.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
• Graduates from Nova Tech Aqua Kids are automatically eligible for AA competitions.
• Swimmers at the AA level must achieve qualifying times for AAA meets and East Coast Championships.
• The goals are for swimmers to race similarly skilled swimmers based on entry times and achieve their own personal best times and higher qualification standards.
• Swimmers learn to perform on demand at different times of the year, both in season and out.
Training Schedule:
• Swimmers practice five times per week (Monday-Friday and Sundays 1x/month) and attend swim meets monthly.
We are governed by an Executive Board of Directors consisting of parents and coaches.
All families are expected to be represented at parent meetings, volunteer to officiate at swim meets and help with fundraising opportunities.
Our parents are a valuable asset to the team and help to keep the program going.
