Curriculum Vitae

   Born in Volos, Hellas (Greece). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (2002) from the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Xanthi, Hellas. During 1999-2000 he carried out his mandatory military service in Hellenic Air Force. His teaching activity includes International Hellenic University (1995-2004), Dept. of Production & Management Engineering and Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering (DECE) (2003-2004) as visiting Lecturer and visiting Assistant Professor and Hellenic Mediterranean University (2004-2012) where he has served as an Assistant Professor with tenure. During 1995-2004 he has also engaged in electromechanical studies as a freelancer. Since January 2013 he is with Electrical Machines Laboratory (DECE, DUTh) where, currently, he is also Director of the Laboratory. He is also Head of Power Systems Division of the DECE, DUTh.

   His research interests design, operation and control aspects in the area of electric machines and magnetic excitation systems as well as artificial intelligence (AI) methods application to the above areas. He has been supervisor for several final year project theses of native and foreign students, as well as post-graduate Theses (MSc and PhD). He has published over 90 scientific works in various scientific national and international journals, scientific national and international conferences, as well as book chapters in international engineering books. He has also participated in research projects as research leader (principal investigator) or scientific associate (main research team member).

   He serves as an Associate Editor and as Editorial Board Member in many international scientific journals, as a member of International Program Committees Member of many international scientific conferences, as a member of IASTED Technical Committees and as a member of WASET Scientific Committee. He is member of the Hellenic Technical Chamber, Senior member of IEEE, member of IEEE-IAS, IEEE-IES and IEEE-PES societies as well as other national and international scientific associations.
