Welcome to the webpage of Yangwen Zhang. I hold the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

My primary research interests encompass applied mathematics, scientific computing, numerical analysis, and data science. I am particularly focused on innovating computational approaches for solving partial differential equations, with a specific emphasis on the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) method. Additionally, I am engaged in model order reduction techniques for PDEs and their application in various domains, including optimal control problems, inverse problems, and engineering applications. I am also deeply intrigued by challenges in data science and their integration into PDE-related contexts, spanning PDE control and model order reduction.
