A Short Biography:
Gabriel is a recent graduate from South Dakota State with a double major in Biology and Microbiology. He had gained valuable experience during his undergraduate studies working in Dr Yang's Lab. During this time, he was also awarded a grant in research of LiDAR-3D imaging with UV light to develop standardized sanitization methods. He now joins Dr Yang's Lab as a Graduate Research Assistant and is pursuing his Ph.D.
Research Projects
Inactivation of E. coli in Water by Bubble Spark Discharge (BSD) and Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) at High Volumes
Gabriel's current research focuses on the inactivation of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in water using non-thermal (cold) plasma generated through Bubble Spark Discharge (BSD) and Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) systems. The project investigates the effectiveness of these plasma technologies for treating high volumes of water by generating reactive species capable of microbial inactivation. This work aims to advance scalable, chemical-free water treatment technologies with potential applications in food safety and environmental systems.
