If you want comfortable, compact wired headphones for a digital instrument, choose Yamaha HPH-50B; if you need an in-ear monitor with a multi-driver design for detailed listening, choose CCA C12. For audiophiles deciding between these very different wired options, the main choice is straightforward: a simple over-ear-style headphone or a more involved in-ear fit.
Yamaha HPH-50B vs CCA C12 at a Glance
• Yamaha HPH-50B strength: A compact closed-back design with 90-degree swiveling driver units, an adjustable headband, and a 2-meter cable. Trade-off: It is wired and has no listed noise-control feature.
• CCA C12 strength: An in-ear hybrid design with five balanced armatures and one dynamic driver per side, plus a detachable cable. Trade-off: Its 1.2-meter cable is shorter than Yamaha's, and the in-ear fit may not suit everyone.
• For digital instruments and a straightforward over-ear-style fit: Yamaha HPH-50B is the more natural match.
• For listeners who want an in-ear monitor and a multi-driver setup: CCA C12 is the stronger fit.
• Neither is a wireless choice: Both connect by wire, so neither is a match for someone who specifically needs Bluetooth.
The Yamaha HPH-50B is a compact, closed-back wired headphone intended for listening to recorded audio or connecting to a digital instrument. Its 90-degree swivel mechanism lets each driver unit turn to follow the angle of the ear, while the headband adjusts smoothly. Yamaha describes the design as comfortable for extended listening. Those features make it the more straightforward option for a desk, keyboard, or other instrument setup where a longer cable can be useful.
Its cable is 2 meters long and includes 3.5 mm and 6.3 mm stereo plug connections. That gives it a practical role around instruments and equipment with those connections. The frequency response is listed as 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and the headphone weighs 133 g with the cable. The stated sound approach emphasizes a balance between bass and treble rather than a collection of specialized listening features.

I would choose the Yamaha if I wanted a simple wired headphone with a headband, swivel adjustment, and a cable suited to sitting near an instrument. I would skip it if I specifically wanted an in-ear monitor, a detachable cable, or the CCA's multi-driver configuration. It also is not a Bluetooth option, and the data lists no noise-control feature, so it is not the pick for someone prioritizing wireless listening or stated sound isolation.
CCA C12: Who It's For
The CCA C12 is a wired in-ear monitor built around a hybrid driver design: five balanced armatures and one dynamic driver on each side. Its listed frequency range is 7 Hz to 40 kHz, with an impedance of 24 ohms and sensitivity of 112 dB. Those figures describe a different sort of listening proposition from the Yamaha's compact over-ear-style design: an in-ear fit and multiple driver types in each earpiece.
I would consider the C12 for music-focused listening if I prefer in-ear monitors and want a multi-driver arrangement with a detachable cable. The product information names classical, pop, rock, electronic, and other styles among its intended uses, but the specifications alone cannot establish how any individual listener will perceive its sound. I would skip it if I dislike wearing earpieces inside the ear, want a longer cable for a desk or instrument setup, or need Bluetooth. Despite searches for the best Bluetooth earbuds for audiophiles, the C12 is wired, not wireless.
• Best for a digital instrument setup with a 2-meter cable: Yamaha HPH-50B. Its cable length and 3.5 mm and 6.3 mm stereo connections suit a setup where the listener may sit back from the instrument.
• Best for an in-ear-monitor fit: CCA C12. It is designed to sit in the ear, while the Yamaha uses a headband and over-ear-style cups.
• Best for someone interested in multiple driver types: CCA C12. It combines five balanced armatures with one dynamic driver per side.
• Best for a swiveling headphone design: Yamaha HPH-50B. Its driver units turn 90 degrees, and its headband adjusts.
• Best for a detachable cable: CCA C12. The cable can be removed and replaced; the Yamaha's listed cable is not described as detachable.
• Best for the longer listed cable: Yamaha HPH-50B, at 2 meters compared with the CCA C12's 1.2 meters.
• Best for someone seeking stated sound isolation: CCA C12. The Yamaha's listed noise control is none, while the CCA is described as sound-isolating.
• Best for wireless use: Neither. Both are wired, so neither meets a Bluetooth requirement.
The physical difference is more important than a quick comparison of the frequency figures. Yamaha gives you an adjustable headband and compact closed-back construction. CCA gives you earpieces designed to sit inside the ear. If you already know which style you can wear comfortably, that preference can settle the decision faster than a spec sheet.
For audiophiles, the CCA's driver layout is the most distinctive feature on paper. It offers a specific hybrid arrangement and a broad stated frequency range. But a driver count or range does not, by itself, prove that a listener will prefer its sound. The Yamaha's simpler feature set may be enough for someone who mainly wants to listen through a compact wired headphone while playing a digital instrument.
Neither product is specifically described as a gaming headset. Someone searching for gaming headphones for audiophiles should note that both are wired listening products, but the supplied information does not list a microphone or gaming-focused controls for either. The Yamaha could suit a listener who prefers a headband and a longer cable at a desk. The CCA could suit someone who prefers an in-ear fit. If the search is for the best lightweight gaming headphones for audiophiles, the CCA's listed 24 g product weight may be relevant, but the provided information does not establish how that weight is distributed when worn or whether it will feel comfortable for every user.
My Verdict
I would choose the CCA C12 for audiophiles who want an in-ear monitor, a hybrid multi-driver setup, and a detachable cable. Its design gives it a more specialized music-listening role. I would choose the Yamaha HPH-50B instead for a digital instrument, longer cable reach, and a headband-style fit. My overall pick for an audiophile focused on in-ear listening is the CCA, but I would not choose it for anyone who needs Bluetooth or dislikes in-ear earpieces.
