The mission of our organization is (1) to provide an interdenominational Christian community that accepts, recognizes, and supports theological diversity, and fosters spiritual growth in its members, (2) to empower individuals by creating an encouraging environment that combats oppression and restrictions based on gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, ability, socioeconomic status, or personal beliefs, and (3) to provide opportunities for students to discuss matters of faith, and combine faith with action in order to promote compassion, justice, and inclusion.
Authentic: We strive to remind the community that self-worth is something not tied to grades or accomplishments. We value human diversity, affirming all of our members and standing against discrimination where it is found.
Connected: We work to make connections across Yale’s schools and are open to Yale undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. We hope to create an inclusive and interdenominational Christian community that accepts differences in members’ denominations, theologies, and practices.
Engaged: We seek to follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and work to promote love, justice, and compassion on our campus and beyond.
We are open to all Yale students (undergrad & grad). We are a relaxed group; we'd love to see you at every YPCS event, but we know that students are busy! Therefore, you are welcome to come to as much or as little as you can. We'd love to see you!
We meet on a weekly basis via Zoom, for the time being, on Mondays at 5:30pm. Join our email list for the Zoom link! Our typical meetings consist of a member-led discussion on a chosen topic. Some past topics include: Why Christianity?, Art & Spirituality, Pluralism, Love, Protesting, LGBTQ+ affirming Christianity, Selfishness, the Yale Community & Kavanaugh, and Truth vs. truth.
We also engage in other activities including trips to local churches, service opportunities, joint panels with other Christian groups at Yale and the Chaplain's Office, study breaks, and semesterly student-led Worship Nights.
Typically our meetings are held in Bingham Hall (Room 013, Lower Level) on Yale's Old Campus, but due to COVID-19 protocols, we are meeting remotely via Zoom until further notice.
