This debate will explore the nature of both education and freedom. Those in the affirmative may see formal education as the only means to attain true freedom. But what is freedom and to what end is it worthwhile? Do we need to be free to live good lives? The negative might argue that one can live a good life without pursuing (higher) education. Perhaps education is a hindrance to the development of virtue. It might be the case that freedom and understanding are better acquired through experience.
