This year's debate is on the resolution, "Directed Studies is no Grand Strategy," which will feature three themes: a literal discussion of the merits of these two programs in the context of a Yale education; reflections by our recently graduated alumni, many of them D.S. students, on the ways in which their Yale education has and hasn't helped them in ways they least expected; and, finally, a discussion about how future leaders should be educated in a democracy.
