- Notgrass: NOT have the student do ALL of the many writing assignments (for History, Lit., and Bible)
- Notgrass: switch the biographies/autobiographies from Lit. works to History supplements, which would make it easier to make some of them optional if you are running short on time
- Notgrass/LLATL: use an in-depth individual lit. guide for each work of lit.
- LLATL: since there's not much meat to this program, and it is designed for a student who is a strong independent worker and who ENJOYS research... I'd suggest skipping LLATL, make a list of short stories you want to read and find them online or in an anthologyand
- LLATL: since there's not much info or help with the poetry in LLATL, consider going with Art of Poetry and spread it out over 11th and 12th grades for occasional units of poetry study
- I haven't seen a good high school lit. guide for short stories ... alas; a few year-long guides will cover short stories as a unit, BUT, that is part of a full length program

- Is grammar really NEEDED? If not, I'd drop the Analytical Grammar, and focus on Grammar review in context of her writing
- Is writing instruction really NEEDED at this stage? If so, by grade 11, I would use whatever resource or outsourcing would target what the exact need is, and drop trying to match the writing assignments to the History/Literature
