Xu Yezhao (徐葉昭) (1729–1794) was a pioneering female writer and biographer of the Qing Dynasty, celebrated for her contributions to women’s literature in imperial China. Her works, including Zhi si zhai xue wen gao, delved into themes of morality, gender roles, and social philosophy, offering a rare perspective on women’s lives in Qing society. Through her compelling arguments, clear logic, and focus on marginalized voices, Xu reshaped the narrative of her era, leaving an enduring mark on the literary and cultural history of pre-modern China.
