Welcome to the Sun Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Sealy Center for Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston!
We are an experimental biophysics and biochemistry group. We study how protein dynamics are coupled with protein function or dysfunction in human health and disease. We quantitatively probe protein dynamics by integrating biomolecular NMR spectroscopy, single-molecule fluorescence, and data-driven computational modeling. We aim to gain a mechanistic and ultimately predictive understanding of protein dynamics across wide spatiotemporal scales.
We have open positions for graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and technicians. Contact Xun if interested!
