Presentation

In January, the idea of doing the Eramus from scratch, in a very short time, and no idea of the topics, was quite creepy. Then I thought the topics were really suitable for the students, for teenagers and even for everybody. The tricks the companies and individuals who share their contents on the Internet use to grab our attention, to make money, by keeping us clicking on sensationalist headlines, deceptive links, stupid videos whose content has nothing to do with the cover or first picture, ... concepts like clickbait, sensationalism, propaganda, biased information, disinformation, ...included in the first topic, Media Literacy and Critical Thinking . All these concepts and many more started to appear explained in the first websites I found for the students - they knew more than me in many aspects, as they are keen users of the Internet-. Then there was the Gender Equality and Digital Creation topic and we found out that the situation of women in this field is not very different from other fields, from life itself. Basically, as some outstanding women said in a video, women are being penalised for being mothers, besides falling behind during their motherhood years, and find it difficult to catch up with men when they can manage their time again. Nothing different from life in general. Besides, there is the gender roles associated with the kind of toys boys and girls are given from their childhood, which also create gender role stereotypes.

How to cope with the situation? I decided to involve all my students in the topics as a way to get ideas, information and learn what it was about. I could not conduct a program without a basic knowledge. And it worked. Second year of bacharelato students made some brilliant presentations about Media Literacy, by analyzing Internet contents by using the basic theory materials I provided them with. On the other hand, 3rd of ESO bilingual section students showed their usual enthusiasm and produced really remarkable outcomes which I would like to share here with anybody who wants to see them..

Eventually, I was prepared to propose the students participating in the Erasmus+ program  what kind of creations they were meant to do, according the the program agreement. And they did a really great job, but, for me, listening to and seeing the presentations, compositions and creations of all my students was the core of my own learning process, which allowed me to manage the program.

To finish, I must say that the people participating in the program had already done some powerful creations - many of them  more complex and elaborated than the ones in the Erasmus- in previous years, in the bilingual sections. There are blogs, podcasts, presentations, recordings, videos, science tales, etc..
