Ph.D. students
Note: all Ph.D. positions for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 have been filled up.
We are inviting the highly motivated applicants for a fully funded Ph.D. position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Houston. The accepted Ph.D. student will receive full financial support (including stipends, benefits and tuition waiver). Visiting students and research scholars are also welcome.
The research topics include but not limited to: (1) concentrated solar receiver tube design and manufacturing; (2) multiscale simulation of advanced manufacturing process using elemental powders; (3) design and fabricate of bio-inspired porous media using machine learning; (4) development of high-printing quality approach for Laser-Induced-Forward-Transfer bioprinting.
Requirements for Ph.D. applicants:
Have a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or any relevant fields.
Excellent academic records in one or more of the following areas: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material engineering, and manufacturing engineering.
Programming experience using ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, and developing in-house code using Fortran, C or C++, Python
A strong background in Machine Learning is preferred.
