X-taka was born out of a pressing need to address the overwhelming disposable diaper waste that plagues our streets of Nairobi. As a team that occasionally babysat our nephews and nieces, we witnessed firsthand the sheer volume of diaper waste and began to question its ultimate destination. With our combined technical backgrounds and entrepreneurship, we delved into the components and manufacturing process of diapers, becoming acutely aware of the long-term environmental damage caused by improper waste management.

While exploring potential solutions, we found that most existing methods were either in the prototype stage or not suitable for the African market due to their high setup and operational costs. Recognizing this gap, we saw an opportunity to leverage our expertise to develop a scalable and sustainable solution specifically tailored for our needs.
