Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 16, 2026
Thank you for choosing to use Xscanner (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and security. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our document scanning and optical character recognition (OCR) services.
By downloading, installing, or using Xscanner, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Interpretation and Definitions
"Company," "We," "Us," or "Our" refers to the developer(s) of Xscanner.
"You" refers to the individual using the Application.
"Device" means any device, such as a smartphone or tablet, that can access the Application.
"Personal Data" is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
2. Information We Do Not Collect (The "On-Device" Principle)
Xscanner is designed with a privacy-first approach. Our core functionality—scanning documents and extracting text—operates entirely on your device.
We do NOT collect the images you scan.
We do NOT collect the text extracted from your documents (OCR results).
We do NOT upload your scans or documents to any cloud server for processing.
We do NOT have access to your gallery or files unless you explicitly grant permission to select a specific file for editing.
Your documents remain solely on your device, accessible only by you.
3. Information We Collect (For App Functionality and Improvement)
To provide you with the best possible experience and to maintain the App, we may collect the following types of data:
a) Camera and Storage Permissions
Camera Access: The App requires access to your device's camera to take pictures of documents. The images captured are stored locally on your device. We do not view, transmit, or store these images on our servers.
b) Storage/Media Access: The App requires access to your device's storage to save the scanned documents (as PDFs, Doc or images) and to open images you wish to import for OCR. This access is strictly for the functionality you request.
c) Automatically Collected Information (Analytics and Diagnostics)
To help us improve the App's stability and performance, we may use third-party services that collect anonymous, aggregated data. This information cannot be used to identify you personally. It may include:
Device Information: Your device model, operating system version, screen resolution, and language settings.
Usage Data: Features used within the app, frequency of use, and crash reports. For example, we may track that a user performed an OCR scan, but not the content of that scan.
Diagnostic Information: Error logs and performance timings (e.g., how long it took to process a scan).
Note: The specific data collected depends on the analytics service we use (e.g., Google Analytics for Firebase). You can review their privacy policies for more detail.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide and Maintain the Service: To process your scans and OCR requests locally on your device.
To Improve the App: To analyze how users interact with the App (anonymously) in order to fix bugs and enhance features.
To Diagnose Technical Issues: To identify and fix crashes and performance bottlenecks.
5. Third-Party Services
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our App, provide the service on our behalf, or perform app-related services (e.g., crash reporting, analytics). These third parties have access to your non-personal, anonymous data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Common third-party services used in apps like this include:
Google Play Services: For app distribution and in-app review prompts.
Firebase Crashlytics: For crash reporting.
Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics.
Note: We ensure that any third-party SDKs integrated into our app comply with data protection regulations and do not have access to your document content.
6. Data Retention and Security
Your Documents: Since all documents and scans are stored locally on your device, their retention is controlled entirely by you. You can delete them at any time by removing them from the app or uninstalling the app.
Analytics Data: Anonymous analytics data is retained by our third-party providers for as long as necessary to analyze trends and improve the app.
We value your trust in providing us with your information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable.
7. Children's Privacy
Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
8. Links to Other Sites
Our App may contain links to other sites (for example, a "Contact Us" link leading to an email address or a support website). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
10. Your Consent
By using our app, you consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
