If you want a versatile, all-in-one towing solution that swaps between three different ball sizes and a heavy-duty hook for tailgating or farm work, choose XPE Tri Ball Trailer; if you need a rock-solid, single-purpose mount with anti-rattle technology and a massive 8,000-pound capacity for serious hauling, choose AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball.
• XPE Tri Ball Trailer: Offers unmatched versatility with three interchangeable balls (1-7/8", 2", 2-5/16") and a 10,000-lb hook, but the trade-off is the bulkier profile and lack of integrated anti-wobble hardware.
• AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball: Delivers superior stability with a built-in anti-rattle tightener and a high-strength forged steel build, but it sacrifices flexibility by locking you into a single 2-inch ball configuration.
• Who is XPE for? The buyer who tows multiple types of trailers or needs a quick-change system for tailgating gear without swapping out their entire hitch setup.
• Who is AUTMATCH for? The driver who prioritizes a silent, stable ride with a single, heavy-duty load like a boat or camper and wants to eliminate wobble immediately upon installation.
The XPE Tri Ball Trailer is designed for the person who lives in a world of "what ifs." Whether you are heading to a tailgate party with a small utility trailer, moving livestock on a farm, or pulling an off-road vehicle, this unit adapts to the task without requiring you to own three separate hitches. The core design philosophy here is flexibility. You get a single mount that houses three distinct ball sizes: 1-7/8 inches, 2 inches, and 2-5/16 inches. This means you can adjust your setup instantly based on what you are pulling today versus tomorrow.
Beyond the balls, the inclusion of a tow hook adds a layer of utility that few other standard mounts offer. The construction relies on high-quality steel with a black powder-coat finish that is specifically treated to be dust-proof, rust-proof, and corrosion-resistant. For someone living in a coastal area or dealing with road salt, that electroplating and coating process suggests a long service life even under harsh conditions.
However, this versatility comes with a specific physical footprint. The unit measures roughly 8 x 11 x 7.8 inches, which is a substantial block of metal compared to simpler mounts. While the safety pin is designed to firmly fix the traction hook and receiver so it doesn't fall off, there is no mention of an integrated clamp to stop the shank from rattling inside the receiver. If you value a completely silent ride and don't mind adding your own tightening mechanism later, this might not bother you. But if you prefer a plug-and-play experience where the unit locks itself down tightly against noise, you might find yourself needing aftermarket accessories to silence the connection.

This product is ideal for the owner of a pickup truck or SUV who has a garage full of different trailers—a small cargo box for groceries, a medium-sized utility trailer for yard work, and perhaps a larger one for recreation. It is also perfect for tailgating scenarios where you might switch between hauling a grill and a cooler on different days, or need to secure a generator with the hook rather than a traditional ball mount. It is less suitable for those who only ever pull one specific type of trailer and want the absolute minimum weight and size possible on their rear bumper.
The AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball takes a completely different approach, focusing entirely on stability, strength, and a premium towing experience for a single load type. This isn't about swapping parts; it is about engineering a rigid connection that eliminates the frustration of movement. The standout feature here is the inclusion of a "Push-To-Lock" key design for the 5/8" anti-theft lock pin, combined with a dedicated Hitch Tightener Anti-Rattle Clamp. This clamp ensures the elimination of wobble, rattle, and noise, providing a quiet and stable towing experience that many standard mounts simply cannot match out of the box.
Strength is the other pillar of this design. That is a significant amount of power for a single ball mount. The shank features a 2-inch drop and a 3/4-inch rise, allowing for precise leveling with various vehicle-trailer setups. If you are towing a heavy boat, a large RV, or a motorcycle and ATV combo, the ability to level the trailer perfectly is crucial for safe handling. The surface protection is equally robust, utilizing polished chrome plating, galvanization, and powder coating to withstand harsh weather conditions and prevent rust over an extended service life.
The trade-off with the AUTMATCH is its singular focus. It provides exactly one ball size: 2 inches. If you occasionally need to tow something smaller that requires a 1-7/8 inch ball, or if you need the extra capacity of a 2-5/16 inch ball for a very heavy load, you will have to swap out the entire mount. It is a solid, dense object designed to stay put and handle stress, rather than a modular tool designed for frequent reconfiguration.
This product fits the buyer who knows exactly what they are towing and wants the highest level of security and comfort available. It is excellent for the family that pulls a travel trailer or a boat every weekend and refuses to tolerate the shaking and clanking that comes with a loose fit. The red and black color scheme adds a touch of visual distinction, but more importantly, the anti-rattle technology speaks to a driver who cares about the driving dynamics of their vehicle. If you are looking for a dedicated, heavy-duty solution for consistent, high-weight towing, this is the tool for the job.
• Best for versatility → XPE Tri Ball Trailer: You get three ball sizes and a hook in one unit, making it the clear winner if you tow different types of trailers regularly.
• Best for stability and silence → AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball: The built-in anti-rattle clamp and tightener ensure a quiet ride, whereas the XPE lacks this specific vibration-dampening feature.
• Best for leveling options → AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball: With both a 2-inch drop and a 3/4-inch rise, it offers more adjustment range for leveling than the fixed geometry of the XPE.
• Best for theft prevention → AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball: Includes a dedicated 5/8" anti-theft lock pin with a push-to-lock key design as a standard feature.
• Best for varied vehicle types → XPE Tri Ball Trailer: Compatible with RVs, cargo trailers, livestock trailers, and farm vehicles due to the interchangeable nature of the balls.
• Best for durability coatings → Tie: Both use powder coating and corrosion-resistant treatments, though AUTMATCH adds polished chrome plating for extra shine and protection.
I would buy the XPE Tri Ball Trailer if my primary goal was to maximize utility for tailgating and general household chores where I might switch between a small utility cart and a larger generator setup. However, if I were solely focused on towing a heavy boat or camper and wanted to guarantee a silent, wobble-free ride every time I hit the highway, I would choose the AUTMATCH Trailer Hitch Ball. Its anti-rattle technology and drop-forged steel build provide a peace of mind that the XPE simply does not offer in its current configuration. Ultimately, for tailgating and mixed-use scenarios, the XPE wins on flexibility, but for pure, heavy-duty towing performance, the AUTMATCH is the superior choice.
Absolutely. Unlike many basic mounts, the AUTMATCH includes a specific Hitch Tightener Anti-Rattle Clamp designed to eliminate wobble, rattle, and noise for a quieter towing experience.
Yes, both units are built with corrosion-resistant features. The XPE uses a black powder-coat and electroplating, while the AUTMATCH utilizes polished chrome plating, galvanization, and powder coating to withstand harsh weather.
