If you want a dedicated infrared wireless headset designed specifically for in-car entertainment and long family road trips, choose XOvision IR630P; if you need a durable, shockproof storage solution to protect your existing over-ear headphones from travel damage, choose Mchoi Hard Carrying Case. These two products serve entirely different purposes, and comparing them requires looking past the surface to understand what problem each one actually solves for your daily life.
• XOvision IR630P: The standout strength is its specialized infrared connectivity that lets kids watch movies on car DVD players without disturbing the driver; the trade-off is that it lacks modern Bluetooth 5.0+ features and relies on older 2.1 technology, making it less versatile outside of specific vehicle setups.
• Mchoi Hard Carrying Case: Its biggest advantage is the rugged EVA construction that offers waterproof and shockproof protection for bulky headphones during transit; the limitation is that it is an accessory only and does not provide any audio functionality or sound quality itself.
• Who this is for: Choose the XOvision IR630P if you are buying a new device specifically to solve the "noisy backseat" problem on family drives; choose the Mchoi case if you already own compatible headphones and simply need to keep them safe in your glove box or backpack.
The XO Vision IR630P is engineered with a very specific mission in mind: keeping children entertained quietly while traveling in a vehicle equipped with an infrared system. This isn't just another pair of Bluetooth headphones; it is a universal infrared receiver that plugs directly into the headrest transmitters found in many family SUVs and minivans. When you use these for calls or media playback, you get instant access to the vehicle's DVD player system without the hassle of tangled wires running down the aisle. The design prioritizes ease of use for younger passengers, featuring a user-friendly on/off switch and volume controls that are large enough for small hands to manage independently.
Comfort is a major factor here, as road trips can last for hours. The product specifications highlight extra foam cushioning paired with an adjustable headband, ensuring a custom fit that doesn't pinch or slide around even after prolonged wear. Since the ear cups are over-ear style, they provide a secure seal that helps isolate the child from the noise of the engine or siblings, allowing them to focus entirely on their movie or music. The fact that it folds flat makes it incredibly easy to toss into a bag or stash in a door pocket when the trip ends, preventing the clutter that often accumulates in cars with multiple sets of electronics.

However, this device is not for everyone. If you are looking for the best open ear headphones for calls or the best open ear earbuds for calls, this will not meet your needs because it is a closed-back, over-ear design intended for private listening rather than situational awareness. Furthermore, its reliance on infrared technology means it will not work with standard smartphones, tablets, or modern car stereos unless those devices have an infrared transmitter built-in. The Bluetooth version listed is 2.1, which is quite dated compared to current standards, limiting its range and potential compatibility with newer non-car devices. If you need a versatile bluetooth headset for calls that works seamlessly across all your gadgets, the limitations of this infrared-focused hardware might be frustrating. It is best suited for parents who already have a car entertainment system and need a reliable, kid-proof way to deliver audio to the back row.
The Mchoi Hard Carrying Case is not an audio device; it is a protective shell designed to safeguard your expensive electronics from the rigors of travel. If you own a pair of Riwbox CT-7, Jack CT-7S Cat Green, or iClever IC-HS01 headphones, this case is tailored specifically to hold them securely. The exterior dimensions of 8.2 by 6.2 by 4.5 inches provide ample room for the headphones and their accessories, including USB lines and manuals. The material used is Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), a choice that delivers a lightweight yet tough barrier against bumps, dents, and scratches. This is crucial for anyone who frequently throws their gear into a backpack, gym bag, or the trunk of a car where items might shift around during transit.
One of the most practical features of this case is its internal organization. It includes a built-in mesh pocket that keeps smaller items like cables and adapters separated from the headphones, preventing them from scratching the ear cups or getting lost. The hard shell construction also boasts water resistance and dustproof capabilities, meaning a sudden rainstorm or a dusty commute won't ruin your equipment. The reinforced handle makes it easy to grab and go, turning a potentially messy bundle of cords and plastic into a single, portable unit. Whether you are a parent taking headphones on a school field trip or a teen commuting to practice, the ability to throw this case into a bag without worrying about crushing the headphones inside is a significant convenience.
That said, you must verify compatibility before purchasing. The case is not a universal container; it is molded to fit specific models of cat-ear and over-ear headphones. Additionally, since this is a case-only product, it does not include the headphones themselves, nor does it offer any audio enhancements or battery life improvements. It is purely a storage and transport solution. If you are currently using soft pouches or wrapping your headphones in socks to protect them, upgrading to this hard-shell option is a logical step to extend the lifespan of your gear. It is ideal for families who need to store multiple pairs of headphones safely or for travelers who demand their electronics remain pristine regardless of how rough the journey gets.
• Best for in-car movie watching → XOvision IR630P, thanks to its dedicated infrared receiver that syncs with factory-installed headrest screens.
• Best for protecting headphones from drops → Mchoi Hard Carrying Case, due to its shockproof EVA shell and rigid structure.
• Best for simple volume control → XOvision IR630P, which places physical buttons directly on the ear cup for immediate adjustments.
• Best for organizing cables and accessories → Mchoi Hard Carrying Case, featuring a dedicated mesh pocket for storing USB lines and manuals.
• Best for long-term durability → Mchoi Hard Carrying Case, as the waterproof and dustproof materials resist environmental wear better than plastic headphones alone.
• Best for independent kid usage → XOvision IR630P, with its intuitive switches designed for children to operate without parental help.
• Best for portability in a backpack → Mchoi Hard Carrying Case, offering a compact form factor that fits easily alongside other travel essentials.
• Best for wireless connectivity to phones → Neither; the XOvision uses outdated Bluetooth 2.1 and relies on infrared, while the Mchoi has no audio capability.
In my opinion, if you are trying to buy a functional device to solve the chaos of driving with kids, the XOvision IR630P is the clear winner because it provides the actual audio experience needed for those long drives. It transforms a noisy backseat into a quiet cinema, which is exactly what families need when searching for the best open ear headphones for calls or entertainment in a vehicle. However, if you already own high-quality headphones and just need to stop them from getting smashed in your luggage, the Mchoi Hard Carrying Case is the essential purchase that will save your investment. I would buy the XOvision IR630P if my goal was to upgrade our family's travel entertainment setup for calls and movies, but I would buy the Mchoi case if I simply needed to protect the gear I already own.
The XOvision IR630P is primarily designed for infrared video and audio playback in cars; while it supports Bluetooth 2.1, it is not optimized as a dedicated bluetooth headset for calls compared to modern communication-specific devices. The Mchoi case holds headphones but does not function as a headset itself.
