• Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds — biggest strength: a clip-on open-ear hook design with 16.3mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 6.1, IPX7 water resistance and a claimed 8 hours per charge plus 32 more from the case.
• Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds — biggest trade-off: open-ear audio means you will never get the sealed, isolating thump of an in-ear bud, and the 60ms stated latency is higher than the low-latency figure quoted in the marketing bullets.
• VEKJ Mini — biggest strength: a genuinely tiny 3.0g in-ear bud built for side sleepers, with a smart touch-screen charging case, 48 hours of total playtime and five EQ modes.
• VEKJ Mini — biggest trade-off: it is an in-ear design with passive noise cancellation only, so it will block some of the world out, and the case is bulkier than the buds themselves.
• Who each pick is for: Xoruezls for runners, commuters and anyone who works with one ear on the room; VEKJ Mini for side sleepers, night listeners and people who want an in-ear seal.
The Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds are built around one idea: sound that never seals you off. Instead of pushing a tip into your canal, they hook over the ear and rest outside it, so ambient noise and airflow pass straight through. The spec sheet calls this a built-in transparency mode, and that is exactly how it behaves in practice — you hear the bus before it reaches you and you hear your name across the office.
The hardware backs it up. Bluetooth 6.1 is the newest version here by a wide margin, rated for a 10-meter range, and the driver is a 16.3mm dynamic unit — notably large for this category, which is the main reason an open design can still deliver usable bass. Battery is quoted at 8 hours continuous plus another 32 from the case, and a 10-minute top-up is claimed to give 2 hours back. IPX7 means sweat and rain are not a concern. Touch controls handle playback, and the noise control is listed as environmental noise cancellation, aimed mostly at call clarity rather than blocking the world.
Buy these if you run outdoors, cycle, commute through busy streets, or work somewhere you need to stay reachable. Skip these if you want total immersion on a plane, or if you need the deepest possible bass — no open-ear design wins that fight.
The VEKJ Mini takes the opposite approach. These are true in-ear buds, and everything about them is engineered around sleep. Each bud weighs 3.0g, which is about as light as this category gets, and the contoured shape is specifically shaped to avoid pressure when your head is on a pillow. There is even a sleep mode that silences the low-battery and power-off chimes so nothing pings you awake at 3am.
The standout feature is the charging case, which has a full-colour LED touch screen. From that screen you can control playback, skip tracks, take calls, adjust volume, change screen brightness, switch wallpapers, set a timer and even locate the buds. It also shows remaining battery for both the buds and the case. Audio comes from 13mm dynamic drivers with five EQ presets — standard, classic, jazz, rock and pop — and passive noise cancellation plus a noise-cancelling mic for calls. IPX7 covers sweat and rain. Playtime is 6–8 hours per charge and 48 hours total, with a full case charge in about 1.5 hours via USB-C, and the package includes a 24-month repair promise.
Buy these if you listen in bed, sleep on your side, share a room, or want a compact in-ear set with a case that doubles as a control panel. Skip these if you need to stay aware of your surroundings — in-ear means blocked, and passive isolation does not have an off switch.
• Best for staying aware of traffic and surroundings → Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds. The open-ear hook design is the whole point of the product.
• Best for side sleepers and bedtime listening → VEKJ Mini. 3.0g buds, a sleep mode that mutes notification tones, and a shape built for pillow pressure.
• Best for workouts and sweaty sessions → Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds. IPX7 plus a clip-on fit that is designed not to shift while you move. VEKJ Mini is also IPX7, so this is close — but open-ear stability wins on a run.
• Best for total playtime → VEKJ Mini. 48 hours with the case against 40 hours for the Xoruezls pair.
• Best for newest Bluetooth → Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds. Bluetooth 6.1 versus 5.4 on the VEKJ Mini.
• Best for bigger drivers and open soundstage → Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds. 16.3mm dynamic drivers versus 13mm.
• Best for hands-on control → VEKJ Mini. A colour touch screen on the case beats tapping a bud, especially in the dark.
• Best for blocking out a noisy room → VEKJ Mini. In-ear with passive noise cancellation will always isolate more than an open design.
My Verdict
If I had to pick one, I would buy the Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds — for the simple reason that they fit more of my day. Open-ear means I can wear them on a run, on a call and at my desk without pulling them out, and the Bluetooth 6.1 plus the 16.3mm drivers give them the longer runway as a daily pair. In my opinion the VEKJ Mini is the better purchase only if sleep is your actual problem, because nothing about the Xoruezls pair is designed for a pillow. Buy the Xoruezls for your waking hours, and the VEKJ Mini if your listening happens with the lights off.
how to fit in ear earbuds
For the VEKJ Mini, angle the bud slightly forward and down as you seat it, then let it settle — the 3.0g weight and contoured shell are shaped to sit without pressure. If it feels loose, try a different tip size and twist gently until the seal forms. You should feel the seal, not the bud.
how to put in ear earbuds
Pull the top of your ear up and back with your opposite hand to straighten the canal, then slide the bud in and release. On the VEKJ Mini, keep the touch surface facing outward so you can tap it. If it pops out when you chew or lie down, it is not seated deep enough.
how to clean in ear earbuds
Wipe the nozzle and body with a dry microfibre cloth after each use, and use a soft brush or a dry toothpick to lift wax out of the mesh — never push it in. Both the VEKJ Mini and the Xoruezls pair are rated IPX7, which covers sweat and rain, but neither rating covers submerging them for cleaning. Let them air dry fully before they go back in the case.
how to ear earbuds
If you mean which style to wear: choose in-ear (VEKJ Mini) when you want isolation and a secure seal for sleep, and open-ear clip-on (Xoruezls Open Ear Earbuds) when you want to hear your surroundings. Neither is universally better — it depends on whether you are trying to block the world or stay in it.
