How to Download and Install XMOS USB Audio Driver for Windows
If you have a USB audio device that uses XMOS USB chipsets internally, you may need to install a driver to enable its full functionality on Windows. XMOS USB Audio firmware supports both USB Audio Class 1.0 and USB Audio Class 2.0, but Windows 10 and Apple macOS version 10.6.4 and above natively support only USB Audio Class 2.0. For advanced features such as multichannel audio, high sample rates, DSD support, ASIO support, MIDI support, HID support, and DFU support, you may need to install the USB Audio Class 2.0 Driver from Thesycon.
In this article, we will show you how to download and install the XMOS USB Audio Driver for Windows from the official website of XMOS. We will also compare the features and limitations of the evaluation and production versions of the driver.

Step 1: Visit the XMOS website
The first step is to visit the XMOS website at https://www.xmos.ai/software/usb-audio/driver-support/. This is where you can find the latest information and download links for the XMOS USB Audio Driver for Windows.
Step 2: Choose the driver version
The next step is to choose the driver version that suits your needs. There are two versions available: the evaluation version and the production version.
The evaluation version is a fully featured version of the Thesycon production driver that can be used for evaluation and prototyping purposes. It is free to download and use, but it has some restrictions and limitations. For example, it is locked to XMOS VID & PIDs, it has a beep tone every 5 minutes after 60 minutes of use, and it requires a license fee for commercial use.
The production version is a customizable version of the Thesycon driver that can be used for commercial products. It requires a license fee and a support contract from Thesycon, but it offers more flexibility and control over the driver features and branding. For example, it allows you to use your own VID & PID, customize the splash screen, strings and icons, and adjust the latency and buffering settings.
Step 3: Download the driver installer
The final step is to download the driver installer from the XMOS website. You can find the download link for the evaluation version under the "Evaluation / Prototyping" section. You can also find a comparison table of the features and terms of both versions under the "Windows USB Audio 2.0 Driver Comparison" section.
Once you have downloaded the driver installer, you can run it on your Windows PC and follow the instructions to install the XMOS USB Audio Driver for Windows. After installation, you should be able to use your USB audio device with XMOS USB chipsets on Windows with full functionality.
