November 8, 2024
Dear Participants,
We are pleased to welcome you to the XIX SOCHIAS Annual Meeting, to be held at the University of Tarapacá, Arica, from November 11 to 15, 2024. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we would like to remind you of some important details:
Registration:
Participant registration is now formally closed. However, as in previous years, we have noticed that some participants forget to complete the final registration step after paying the registration fee. We kindly ask all participants, especially professors, to ensure that their colleagues have completed this final step by midnight today. Registration will close automatically at 12:00 a.m. tonight, and no further registrations will be accepted.
Posters:
The maximum permitted size for posters is 120 cm in height by 90 cm in width. Please make sure that your posters comply with these dimensions.
Airport Transportation:
Taxis are readily available at the airport, with an approximate fare of CLP $18,000 to $20,000 for a group of up to 4 people going to the same destination. Another option is to use a shared taxi (transfer) service, which costs approximately CLP $7,000-8,000 per person.
Arrival and Check-in:
We recommend arriving at the Aula Magna on the Velásquez campus (approximate location here) with enough time to register and settle in before activities begin.
Registration will be open at the following times:
Monday, November 11: 08:00 - 10:00 a.m.
The welcome addresses will begin at 09:30 a.m.
Lanyards:
To facilitate identification and access to the various activities, we kindly ask that you bring your lanyard from previous years. This will contribute to environmental care and support the sustainability of our event. If you do not have one, we will have a limited number of lanyards available during registration.
This credential must be visibly worn at all times, as we will be in a public space and need to identify the Meeting’s participants.
We recommend that participants bring a reusable water bottle for personal use.
Scholarships:
For participants awarded a scholarship, we inform you that the corresponding amount will be transferred to your bank accounts during the conference week. We ask for your cooperation in signing the required documentation upon arrival at the registration desk. If you haven’t submitted your bank details, now is the time to do so.
Tourist Activities:
During the meeting, various tourist activities will be offered so that you can enjoy the beauty and cultural richness of Arica. More information on these activities was sent in a previous message with the help of SERNATUR. Additional activities offered by UTA will be announced in the coming days.

Those who chose the option to attend the dinner with a companion, please contact asistente.sochias@gmail.com to arrange payment and details.
