Xingyu Shen
PhD Candidate in Accounting
University of Rochester
I am a fifth-year PhD candidate in Accounting at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester, and will join the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech as an Assistant Professor in May 2026.
My general research interests lie at the intersection of accounting and labor economics, as well as the intersection of accounting and political economy. My current projects span a wide range of topics, such as human capital, regulation, information transparency, real effects, financial reporting quality, and political ideology. My research has been published in premier academic journals, including Journal of Accounting and Economics and The Accounting Review.
I am expected to graduate from the University of Rochester with a PhD in May 2026. I also earned an MS from the University of Rochester, an MPS from Cornell University, and dual BBAs—one from the City University of New York, Baruch College, and one from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China.
