Xingyu Shen, PhD

I am Xingyu Shen, an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech.
My general research interests lie at the intersection of accounting and labor economics, as well as the intersection of accounting and political economy. My research has been presented at numerous leading academic conferences and institutes globally and published in premier academic journals, including Journal of Accounting and Economics and The Accounting Review. My research has also been recognized with several prestigious awards, such as the Rising Financial Literacy Scholar Award from the Stanford Financial Education Symposium and the FARS Midyear Meeting Connecting to Practice Award from the FARS Midyear Meeting.
I earned a PhD in Business Administration and an MS in Business Research from the University of Rochester, where I was featured in Class of 2026 University Graduation Making Their Mark. I also hold a Master's degree in Accounting from Cornell University and a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy from the City University of New York–Baruch College.
