Jim Reid currently divides his time between Barcelona and the island of Menorca. Born in 1960 in Philadelphia, Reid started his art career in 1988, working in charcoal. He was introduced to art by his friend David Spagnolo.
In the fall of 1988, he moved to Castel de Fels in Spain, where he founded his own studio. For the next few years, Reid continued painting in Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Rome and Spain. In 1990, Reid studied at the Art Students’ League in New York under Robert Beauchamp. Reid lived and had studios in NYC, Miami, San Francisco, Bisbee AZ and Bradley Beach NJ. He has produced artworks in oil paint, sculpture, watercolor, pencil, and charcoal. He also worked as an assistant for New York artist Hunt Slonem.
Reid was a visiting artist at the Xavier Corberó Foundation in Barcelona from 1999 to 2003. After returning to the United States, he opened Top Floor Studio, an art studio for children and teens, which lasted from 2005 to 2015. In 2016, he opened a similar art club in Barcelona called Kids’ Art Party. Reid finished a series of outdoor murals in 2021 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania before moving to Es Migjorn Gran Menorca, Spain.
