Xilin Li is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. She is a behavioral scientist studying judgment and decision making, and social inference. Her research explores how people evaluate outcomes and options, and why they overweight information that should not matter and underweight information that should; how people mispredict their own reactions and misjudge how they will be perceived by others; and how people draw inferences about firms, individuals, and algorithms. She also studies strategic interaction, with a focus on how people collectively err in competitive and resource-sharing settings. Substantively, her work informs consumer choice and valuation, compensation and workplace comparison, media and misinformation, and discrimination in markets and organizations.
Her research has appeared in leading journals, including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Management Science, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.
Xilin received her Ph.D. in Behavioral Science and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She also holds an M.S. in Psychology from Peking University and a B.S. in Psychology from Beijing Normal University.
