ABOUT ME

I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Utah. My research specialty lies in sustainable transportation system with a focus on public transit, large-scale transportation system modeling and simulation, GIS-based infrastructure asset management, data-driven traffic network analysis, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). I am affiliated with TransAnalytics here at the U. My work at the U has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), U.S. Department of Transportation University Transportation Centers (UTCs), National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP 2), Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), and Utah Transit Authority (UTA).

I got my Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington where I was affiliated with Smart Transportation Applications and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab), and worked as a transportation engineering intern in the urban planning office of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Before joining the UW, I studied at Beijing Jiaotong University where I got my Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Texas Southern University where I got my Master's degree in Transportation Planning and Management.
