Xiaoyu Ma

I'm a software engineer at the Azure Security Group at Microsoft. Before this, I obtained my Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from the University of Notre Dame, with research on theoretical modeling and numerical simulation of physical systems, including superconducting vortices, magnetic skyrmions, quantum dynamics of tunneling junctions, topological qubits, and colloidal particles.

I have interned at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center (fall 2019), Microsoft Quantum Architectures and Computation (QuArC) Group (summer 2019), and IBM Zurich Research Laboratory (summer 2018). I was a visiting scholar at Los Alamos National Laboratory (summer 2019, summer 2017, summer 2016).

Before moving my research to physics, I received my M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame (2014), B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Peking University (2013), and B.A. in Economics (double major) from National School of Development at Peking University (2013).
