I am originally from Taian, a small mountain town in Shandong Province, China, where I grew up with my family, hiking in the mountains, and trained for track and field very seriously. I started watching Formula One as a kid, inspired by Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn, I chose Mechanical Engineering as my major when for my undergrad in Beijing Forestry University.
After completing my degree, I flew across the Pacific Ocean to attend master program in Aerospace Engineering in UC San Diego. Realized it was nearly impossible to join a professional racing team, but fascinated by the beauty of fluid dynamics, I decided that I wanted to learn a bit more on Navier-Stokes, so I joined Dr. Rallabandi's group in UC Riverside pursing for PhD degree.
My research focuses on microfluidics flow, especially particle dynamics in oscillatory flow. From single particle to multiple interactive particles, I model the flow to provide an easy to implement and computationally cost effective tools for people who aren't expert in the field, helping them to avoid excessive math part, which I really enjoy.
Beside my research work, you can always find me in the mountains on weekends. As an avid hiker and ultra runner, I appreciate the ultimate freedom of hitting a trail with a bag full of snacks.
The more time I spend in the mountains, the more I want to link my research with the great nature. I want to I am seeking opportunities to do research which can link my professional knowledge with mother nature.
