Luis Cortes-Herrera

Research Associate


Luis is a Research Associate at the Department of Physics, UNT. He graduated from the University of Rochester with a Ph.D in Optics in June 2024. He is interested in the analysis and optimization of photonic systems. In his free time, he enjoys biking, and watching sci-fi and fantasy movies.

Dmytro Shymkiv 

Research Associate


Dmytro is a Research Associate at the Department of Physics, UNT. He graduated from UNT with a Ph.D degree in Physics in May 2024. In his free time, he enjoys grilling, hiking, driving and visiting parks. 

Jack Hatsy

Graduate student


Jack is a 1st year graduate student in the Physics Department at the University of North Texas. He completed his BS in Mathematics in May 2020 and his BS in Physics in July 2024, both at UNT. Jack’s current research includes simulating electromagnetic scattering. Jack lives in Dallas, TX with his fiancé, Anaiya, and cat, Tikki. He enjoys reading, meditating, spending time in nature, watching sports, and playing tabletop games. 

Louis Keating 

Undergraduate student

UNT Undergraduate Research Fellowship recipient  (2023-2024) 


Louis is a B.S. Physics student at UNT, and he loves to cook, read prose, write poetry, and play video games when he is not studying. He is very analytical in his logical skills, but he fully understands the importance of creative outlets.

Zhongyuan Wang

Undergraduate student


Zhongyuan graduated from UT Austin in May 2023, majoring in physics. He is preparing to apply for graduate studies in physics in November this year.  In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and golf.

Brigham Thornock

Undergraduate student


Brigham is a senior Computer Science student at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). He is graduating in December 2023 and plans on pursuing a master's in Computer Science at UTD. He enjoys swimming, hiking, and rollerblading.  

Camila Nunez 

Undergraduate student


Camila is a Computer Science student at the University of Virginia. Her greatest interests aside from computer science are art and fashion. She was part of the AI/CS Summer Research Program at UNT.

  

Aiden Karpf 

Undergraduate student


Aiden studies physics at Pomona College, and is additionally interested in mathematics, philosophy, and computer science. In his free time, he enjoys exploring, writing, listening to music, and thinking deeply about the world.
