Hello! I'm Xiaofei Qu, a PhD candidate in management at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).
My research interests lie at the intersection of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Organization Theory, emphasizing the interface between organizations and their heterogeneous audiences. Specifically, I study market identity, firm positioning, novelty appreciation, cultural and creative industries, the socio-cognitive structure of markets such as category and categorization, as well as social issues such as diversity and inclusion. My dissertation explores how firms communicate their strategic or social positions to the market, how various audiences receive such positions, and taken together, how they translate into firm performance. Methodologically, I employ a wide array of empirical tools, such as natural language processing, causal inference, and panel data analysis. In addition, I enjoy developing original datasets by web scraping and experiments
