Xenia Lab Gallery is an artist initiative founded by Carlos RAMIREZ CARRASCO aka "Caliban Ramirez" in August 2018. The concept arose when Carlos discovered that his artist's studio was increasingly becoming a meeting place for friends, artists and cooperative collaborators.Â
Since November 2018, the project has had a permanent place in the landscape of Tervuren. However, it is not a traditional art gallery. This multipurpose project space focuses on supporting creative projects, with a particular emphasis on engagement. We especially want to attract outsiders, artists and street art recycling makers.
From there the idea grew to create an open space where different disciplines and mediums, ideas and artists can reinforce each other. Xenia Lab Gallery was born. Each object tells a story with the underlying idea of 'consuming'. Everyone is welcome to join forces, to help shape, ... to create a better world.
Soyez nombreux à célébrez, un artiste d'exception.
"I found a way to escape, but it was not common and wild.....
I think, that many wanted to accompany me, but it was very strong for others, I would not force anyone to vomit, to be indisposed after this experience,! The only thing I can tell you is that I suck myself,...
Here's the turn, dirty transtornado.......Â

The young artist, born in Colombia in 1991, arrived in Brussels in 2019, where he is confronted with a reality totally opposed to what he knew. His creations unmask the artist's humour, acid, desperate, absurd, cosmopolitan and explosive.

For those who did not have the opportunity to see this exhibition in October, do not miss this new opportunity. Artists and journalists shared for a week the daily life of migrants trapped at the border / cover photo by JosĂ© Palazon #prodeinÂ

Carlos Ramirez is at the crossroads of several cultures, both Northern and Southern. Born in Santiago in Chile, he arrived at a tender age in Belgium and studied in Brussels at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Watermael-Boitsfort Academy (Paul Gobert). He then went on to do further painting studies with Maio Wassemberg.Spaeking several languages perfectly, he has been immersed in Latin American culture and the two major components of âBelgitudeâ.He is no stranger to exhibiting, having displayed his work on numerous occasions, individually and collectively, both in Belgium (XIII OXY gallery, Free University of Brussels, Jodoigne Town Hall, etc) and in Canada (Montral, QuĂ©bec).A number of his mural creations (Etterbeek Hospital, Ixelles) express his desire to also be an urban painter: see his fresco in Etterbeek on the theme of â500 years of resistance of the Americasâ.His painting stands mid-way between the figurative and non-figurative, allying bold strokes with soft pastels. Animal figures and representations of the devil co-exist in a dream-like universe where poetic imagination projects the human and the animal that exist side by side without ever confronting one another.

#Frontera Sud
Five Spanish artists, photographers and activists invite visitors to get more involved in the latest news about what is happening in their own environment.
They do it like journalists, through photography and with a certain poetry.
JosĂ© PalazĂłn, Oihana Marco, Helena SĂĄnchez, Marcos Dios, Cristina Alvarez are among themÂ
artists - activists and photographers.Â
The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Art & Flux Gallery in Sint-Gilles, intercultural kwb and Xenian Lab Gallery in Tervuren.
The exhibition focuses on the current theme of migration. Melilla (Spanish enclave) is located in northern Morocco where several Spanish cities are located.Â
From Melilla, we have a view of the high metal fences that so many migrants want to cross because they see the enclave as a bridge to Europe.Â
We also have a view of the border posts of Beni Ensar, Farahna, the centre of PĂčrisima,.....
In 2005, Africans stormed Melilla by the hundreds at a time to enter the European Union, most of them being forcibly returned. Since then, the security of the enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta has been strengthened.Â
However, a four-metre high double wall with watchtowers does not stop everyone. On 17 February 2014, 1 May 2014 and 15 October 2014, similar storms occurred, the number of injuries caused by "razor blade" cuts accompanying these inhuman fences is unacceptable.Â
The proximity and immeasurable distance between the different worlds show the limited relationship between the two zones. Whereas these are people who just want to live.
JosĂ© PalazĂłn, President of the NGO Prodein:Â
"My city is located along a road where men, women and children walk and dream of a world where they can escape injustice, hunger, war, looting and abandonment.
Malicious people bring them to the roads with great obstacles.
The path of hope is paved with suffering, blood and death.
Just yesterday, a child died.
Hundreds of families are being harassed by this injustice.
At the intersection of life stories. The exhibition "Melilla Frontera sur" is an exchange between migrants and supportive citizens. Marcos Dios' show that accompanies this exhibition is the result of a human experience that offers asylum seekers a voice and another perspective on a "contemporary exile" that concerns us all.Â
The exhibition will take place at the Xenia Lab Gallery from Friday 15/03 to Sunday 31/03/2019. Welcome to the opening on 15/03 of the exhibition at 7:30 pm.
