One of the things I always wanted to pick up and get into was the Hercules soundtracks. I had picked up all the Xena soundtracks as they were released and luckily they were CD's, because if they were vinyl they would have been worn out. The CD's were kinda pricey and also keeping up with other bands and artists I always have to be picky. I absolutely love the music on Xena.. and the CD's were just awesome way to relive the show. I would bring them to work and enjoy them and of course when Xena's battle music would come on I would just get "super driven" LOL...
So of course also being a fan of Herc, I wanted to get the CD's. Now that I'm back into all of it, I have been able to pick them up used in great shape.
Even if you are just a casual fan I highly recommend picking up the soundtracks.. So awesome.
Last year I impulse bought the 20th Anniversary Xena CD set. I have not opened it yet. The style of the case is like an LP storage album from the 1950's. The CD's drop into a page bound into a book like album. It's beautiful. But if I open it, dust will get in there. So I have not yet decided what to do.
I made a somewhat indulgent purchase. At least while I was considering it, I thought it to be indulgent. Now that I have the card and in looking at it, It's so cool and a worthwhile thing to have. 258 West Authentic Signatures have created a concept of having actors/actresses pre-sign art cards. Then you can have a sketch commissioned of a character and you will have the autograph already there. The card is very nice. I like the thin line of the signature.
Also Included were a few card swatch samples for the artist to test the paper on. And the back has the certification and a serial numbered hologram. I have a couple of sketch artists in mind to add a sketch to it. But I'm still thinking about how I want to go about that. These are very limited. I love having this card in my collection. And I will be checking back for more cool things.
258 West Authentic Signatures Here's a link if you want to have a look and purchase a Lucy Lawless card.
A while back I picked a Razor Autograph card. I got Tsiania Joelson. She played Varia one of my favorite characters on the show. I had heard about these cards. I was not collecting or following non-sports at the time when these were released. But apparently these cards were extras that had been kept on hand, and were liquidated. My best guess it's when Rittenhosue no longer had the Xena trading card license. Just speculation. So Razor purchased a large lot of them. Then they loaded them in top loaders and put their gold seal on it. Then sold from there. These cards are all over ebay, and I'm sure there's loads more that have been taken out, and re-sold. So why did I purchase a card I already had? First it was very cheap, and second I wanted to have at least one example of a card that was never distributed in packs. There is no difference in the card itself, and it would be impossible to tell once out of it's seal. It's just another interesting part of the 2000's card history, and there was a huge shift in dynamics and cards like this represent that. I have hesitated purchasing others. But if I come across them in the 5$ range I may pick up some other ones.
The good thing about the Razor gold seal is that it let's people know that on this particular card there's a greater quantity, and to buy accordingly.
This X-Files card is really special to me. Xena was ending, it was really ending this time and I was wondering what Lucy and Renee would do acting wise in the future. Lucy had guested in a couple of spots. But I just didn't know how what the future held. When I heard Lucy was going to be on the X-Files, I was floored. Super excited. And I just knew she would have a great career ahead post Xena.
I started watching the X-Files in the first season. And I was one of those people who actually skipped going out on Friday nights so I could watch. Incredible writing, acting and effects. And scary, really scary.. Thank god for Mulder and Scully cause other wise I would have to watch with my eyes closed! At the time Fox was still kinda newish with TV shows.. But they proved you just need talent. I loved, loved, loved Gillian Anderson, like every other human on earth.
I was very happy when Annabeth Gish joined as Reyes. I absolutely loved her since Shag the movie from 1989. I think I wore out that blockbuster rental tape. LOL
When I saw this card.. It was the holy trinity right here.. like three eras/pillars of my adult life interwoven. So many memories. Xena, Scully and Pudge.. like chapters marked by pop culture.
Every time I see this card.. I just smile.
There it is.. photos of my PSA 10 Auto of Michael Hurst. In any other world a PSA 10 would be fantastic . In Non Sports. It's LOL. Isn't it great? The holder/case I mean ;) The card is just like any other perfect new card. I have to be honest though. I really do like it. And the concept of it is fine. I have no idea if you can see with the naked eye the difference between a 9 or 10. As years go by and some new cards are not cared for, and some duds get into the market.. Grading on what are new cards now will be needed. But there are so many more cards properly stored I just don't know.
And speaking of the Market... prices are still very lowish.. and a bit lower. A great time to pick up the more rare cards now. It looks like there will not be a reboot and the market is very relaxed.
The next big project I want to work on is dimensions. I need to measure every single card and item from every set. I just need to figure out when I will have a nice chuck of time to just get rolling on it.
Happy Collecting!
I have been updating and adding a few things over the last few months. But what also cool is that I have been able to enhance a few things. Google made some upgrades to their platform . I can add text to photos, so I have cleaned up a few pages. I also re did the links page and added my want list. Over to the side is a screen shot of the updates google will be adding by next year. All of those things will greatly add to the visual and work ability of this site and I will be using all of it. Also I read by early next year they will have a timeline for all of the old sites to be first deactivated, then later deleted. I'm so glad I didn't wait on rebuilding.
Going down the list...
After google adds a site search I will have no need to click back to the old version.
I don't think I will need this.
This is huge for updating, as I have to scroll and scroll and can't zip around quickly hoping from the home page to different pages.
Yes, yes and yes.. can hopefully add a site counter and favicon and other goodies.
No need since this is not a shared site.
Finally! I can create main set pages, and drill down from there.. and I can just drag and drop what I have already done.. and clean up the side bar which is insane at this point.
No need.. the stock themes are fine.
Need some "RED" text and a way to highlight text too.
This is just the start.. I'm hoping they will allow a side bar with images and the code they allow will be a wide range of HTML and widget goodness.
I'm enjoying the summer so far and I hope all of you are as well.
A really super amazing thing happened.. I reached out to a seller who has always been wonderful to work with. And we made an amazing deal that help me super size my sketch card collection. I'm so happy to scan them and share them on this site! My jaw is still on the floor from the beauty of these cards. Such a joy to look at the art. I'm also super grateful to this seller for giving me this opportunity. I put up 29 sketch cards today.. and 26 are from this person! WOW!
I picked up my first graded card. I always told myself I would stay as far away from them as possible. I could not pass up a 14$ PSA 10 Michael Hurst. I just wanted to check one out. And have a look at the card and see if it was somehow better to the one I have. Or if the card holder was magical or something. LOL People sure love those graded cards. Even if it's a brand new card. But naw.. it's all the same. I do like having one, if only for the sake of it. If I come across any cheap PSA 10's I would get them though.
After all the back and forth... I finished this site. :) And I have updated all of the content. I can now go back to adding things as needed. And adjusting the format along the way. I need to work on my trade list.. and maybe add some cool cards from other non Xena sets.
Happy Sunday!
It feels like I'm almost finished! Actually about 75% done. Along the way I have been adding new things.. Google made a couple of changes to their new site already. It will slow the process down a little. You can only upload one image at a time.. Before I was clicking and adding dozens at a time .
Since there the side navigation bar is kinda going off the rails.. and the full page names get cut off. I have decided to only have Xena sets on it. So what's there now will be it. Unless I find more sets to add. The custom cards, Herc etc.. will be reachable via the home page only. I'm finding the home page works much better since its pretty much a scroll list anyway. My goal is to have the sets as easy to find as possible without digging. That's what I like when I find a new web site to check out.
I picked up some rad singles from a card set from Moldova... It's got some awesome screen caps.. these cards look so nice. I bet there's lots of sets like this out there, made in various parts of the world. So cool!
Happy New Year!
Any progress is good progress.. and I'm up to the Rittenhouse Lucy Lawless/Jeri Ryan dual auto. It really does take time to upload and upload and upload. It's fun though. I'm going to go back later and make some of the images larger.. it was taking to long to resize everything page by page. It doesn't look bad.. I just feel I can adjust it to look better.
I don't think I'm even half way done. Like most people I'm back to work tomorrow.. so this weekend I will resume.
I did get all the awesome new sketch cards I recently got, up.. and they look great. I really enjoy them. I was laying them out and they look so cool like that. The artist style really shines.
I can't wait for the new site to be finished!
I have made good use of my time.. I made about 40 more scans. :) I plan on this weekend to start building out the site.. I really want to finish before I go back to work next week. Tomorrow I have to do work from my job. So that will give me a little break from scanning. Also I reorganized all my scans and made sure everything was consistently labeled. I have back scans for everything.
Some of the costume cards I store in plastic cases.. since the fabric is plush and is thicker than the card. I top loader would press down on it. However scanning thorough the plastic it's not super clear. It is what it is.. I don't want to remove any cards out of their cases. I did remove the team bags.. And that did help a bit. And that helped a lot on the cards I re scanned that are in top loaders.
And I really need to get on with putting up my trade list... It just keeps falling to the bottom of the list of things to do.
Really crushed to hear about the passing of Carrie Fisher and her mom too. Keeping them all in my thoughts...
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Since I have had some time off from work.. I was able to make over 150 scans.. some new stuff, mostly backs.. and a few re-dos. And I'm super happy how they turned out. Also I uploaded to the site.. ALL of the Topps scans front and back. That section is 100% complete. Moving on to the Rittenhouse section. Lots more to do.
I created an actor index for all of the Xena cast cards I'm collecting. I listed their role on Xena. In my searching the actors of Xena have been on so many cards, including autograph and costume cards.. It would be quite the task and cost to obtain them all. I just like certain ones. Also I like getting auto of the Xena cast who have never signed.
I'm up to over 80 Xena sketch cards from Art & Images.. I'm really in love with these things. I am so happy I have a chance to add to my collection in this way. I've seen some really high priced ones on ebay.. I need to win the lottery to get all of those. There have been quite a few listing lately and I have been able to add at a lower cost. It would be amazing to get up to 100 sketches.
After the core site is complete.. I want to not only blog more. I want to add notes and info to the card pages. When looking at them I recall many things and I'd like to add all of that.
More pages added! I was able to build out a little bit more of the site. Also I filled in the home page so I could get a sense of what it will look like. I am mostly happy with it. This site is under construction I think I always wanted to say that lol. I can't wait to finish.. and to add all the new stuff I have collected.
Always on the search....
I just uploaded the first set of card images.. yay! Now to just keep it going. I was thinking in the past about creating a super detailed checklists for every large set. I realize that's not necessary, since every card will be pictured front to back. Also things are separated on different pages. There's no need to type out more that what I have already.
I was over at the Rittenhouse web site and looking again at their Art & Images sketch card checklist, and it hit me again that are aporx, 8,000 Xena sketch cards. That's quite a bit. Every one can put together a nice collection of these with that quantity. Rittenhouse did a good job over their run of gauging the correct quantities to produce and still sell out their cases.
I have started the process of moving everything over from my original site https://sites.google.com/site/xenascardcave/home
to here. Free is best, and the new site is pretty easy to use. All updates and blogs will be here going forward... And eventually google will shut down all the sites using the old platform., though that could be a year and a half away.
They really need to get a search bar, site wide background and a little HTML functions and I can make it look almost the same as before.
I'm really excited.. i picked up quite a few sketch cards. They are awesome.. and got other goodies too. I'm starting to transfer over the Topps sections and I will add scans of the new sketch cards when I get to the art and images page. That John Czop sketch on the side is one of the sketches I got. O_O
I am planning on completing the entire site transfer by the new year. During this process I will be rescaning some images and do some slight reorganization. I figured out how to layout the site so it works well on mobile. Even though I don't like mobile sites.
But I will just re build it.. I never even got my trade page up.. I really need to do that as part of this process.. I have quite a bit to trade. :)
I'm going to just enjoy the process... :)
Been messing around with Wordpress, and it's not workable for a site like this. I have started a new site on Google, but it's very limited right now. It sounds cool that the site width adjusts per computer or device. However you can't adjust the font size at this time, so it's difficult to get a feel for the entire site. Also you can add a back ground image to a text box. But It would be better to add a background image to the entire site.
The real big difference is the clean looking modern style of site. It's like a rubber band. I don't care for it. I don't have much choice since these older style sites are going away and google sites are free.
Yay, I added some fun scans of different cards from various cast members from other sets, and a cool sketch card. On the hunt for some more cards too! I have been busy with real life stuff like working lots of overtime, so I have stepped away for a little while. I have some time over this holiday weekend to work on the site, until I get back at it at work next week.
I have found out that google is updating their free sites with a new version coming in 2018. They will provide migration tools. And they will provide a year notice before dropping this version. I checked out the new version and I don't care for it. Too modern and clean looking. Also right now there's not much you can do except add basic text and photos. I took a look at wordpress. They have a low cost, but full feature web builder. Their free version only allows a blog style interface. Again, I don't care for that function and look. I'm very old school when it comes to web sites.
So I may have to just go for it, and try to remake the site on word press. I don't like web builders that try to walk you though it.. since I like to get the layout first, then add content.
I have all of the content super organized and built out, so once I get going I would expect it to go smooth. I'm not happy having to redo all this work, but that's what I get trying to get something for free. LOL
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Card Collecting!
It's covers like these that make me want to collect the new Xena comics.
So Beautiful, Awesome!! Amazing stuff going on over in the comic land. I added so more card and things today to the site. The main card I added is the Lucy Lawless autograph from Battlestar Galatica.
Finally! I have all of the Lucy autos. :) Now I can concentrate on picking up one from some other cast members.
I was thinking how cool it would be if a Ash vs. Evil dead card set was made. And I nice double auto of Lucy and Bruce, or a double costume card of them.
Happy Card Collecting!
I wanted to share some links to some old school Xena collector pages with trading cards. These pages were a lot of fun, and very interesting and informative back in the day.
First one is the Xena trade center
http://www.oocities.org/xena_trade_Center/
A old geocities page. So many Xena goodies documented here. I used to visit this page quite a bit. Especially if I added something to my collection and wanted to check if it was here.
Never dreamed back then I would be able to make my own page.
Second is the Academy of Bards
http://www.academyofbards.org/cousinliz/index.html
This page has some of the rarest things that I have never seen for sale, or seen photos elsewhere. They have the entire Quality Bakers promotion from New Zealand documented. All of the bread bags, the stand up and banners. Everything.
I feel lucky to have one bread bag, the Chakram booklet and the stickers! Just crazy good stuff!
Third, here's a site I discovered recently when I started this web project Cool Stuff
http://www.xenatrek.de/english/xena/xena.php?section=s1-e
Here's the fourth one, and it's super awesome.. so much here, and the focus is cards. And this really blew me away back in the day. Still does
http://www.asherasarchive.com/tradingcards/xena.html
I hope someday the web masters and collection owners will update their sites and bring this content to a new generation. Luckily their sties are still there.
And of course there's a really cool archive on
http://www.lucylawless.net/
http://www.lucylawless.net/2012/05/lucy-lawless-trading-cards-gallery-back.html
http://www.lucylawless.net/picturearchive/trading_cards/index.php#spgm
Lots to look at and enjoy!
I have really gone for it! I have put up all of the back scans for the Quotable Xena- expanded the checklist. I'm almost done. The I can move all to all of the rest of the sets. This will take many weeks and months but it's a lot of fun .
I took a little break from the site. This gave me a chance to focus on other things, and really decide where I want to go next.
Every once in a while something amazing happens.. and it did. I finished collecting the Dangerous Liaisons set. A set I thought I would not want to collect. A turning point where I moved away from collecting cards, and being really obsessed with Xena. It was not cheap, there are some tough cards in there.. And the last card I needed was the DA9.
The dual autograph of Lucy and Kevin
What an incredible card.
The binder was tough too. I'm pretty sure this is the hardest binder to get now. My guess is they did not make very many. And I also think many were stripped of the bonus cards, then disposed of.
There are loads of the binder cards, but no binders. I'm not a binder collector, nor a "display" kind of person. But since there's not many binders, and I originally got them for the cards.
I'm super happy I still have all of mine. Though I hate the space they take up. This is why all of my display boxes are flattened. This is a perfect solution for me.
I had to purchase a second card case. The costume cards for Dangerous Liaisons are thick, so they took up space. It's all good. I have moved some other non-Xena cards all in the case.
So once this transfer is done it should be 3/4 full, and that will free up space on my shelf. I really love those cases. Super high quality, and make looking at your cards all the more enjoyable.
I'm am going to expand on the side bar, to show some other cards I have. Some Star Wars, Trek and other Autos and cool cards I really love. It will be listed out on the side bar at the bottom.
So it will not detract from the main page of all Xena. This is for my organization, more than anything. But maybe others may enjoy taking a look.
When I was starting to put this site together, this is the CD rom that I went to. I checked at all of my old list, checklists and scans. It was a great resource. I had scanned most of my collection before on a older scanner. And I had downloaded a few images for reference of cards I didn't have. On excel I had my Xena cards as well as my Star Wars etc.. also listed out with all of the details.
As I worked my way though everything again, I was able to refer to it constantly. It made things go a lot faster. And I was able to pick up cards I had been missing. At first I thought I could use many of the images. But the resolution was too low, and would not be consistent.
If anyone one is a collector, I would suggest to photograph or scan your entire collection and list out the details. It's really a lot of fun. It helps you stay organized. If you do it, bit by bit and don't put any pressure or timeline on it, you won't go crazy.
It was kinda weird how much stuff I kept missing on my mental checklist. Even the tasks associated with building this site.
Now I just come back here for reference all the time. And it's become it's own tool to use in my collecting. And the added bonus is I can share all of it.
Back when I was watching the show every week on TV, I used to read on-line a lot of not too great things about Hercules. The shows are different enough to have their own separate fan bases. They did, and they still kinda do. My take on it, is that I love Hercules. I love the entire world Ren Pics created. More is better. I enjoy watching the shows back to back just like I did back in the day. Right now I'm in the middle of a Xena watch though.. but when I start again it will be both shows.
I have really gotten into collecting the postcards. I have always had a few, but they were always on the fringe of my card collection. Not really trading cards.. but I did like them enough to pick them up when I could. Though I never chased them. The promo ones I did go after those, since they are cards and more limited. Retail items are mass produced.
Now that my collection is extremely organized, postcards have a real solid place.. I have scooped up quite a few. And there are quite a bit more to pick up. They are very inexpensive, much like trading card set base cards. This is huge plus! I put up some Hercules ones, and more going up soon.
And as far a prices and buying and selling Xena Items.. Ebay is pretty much the main place. Some collectors will reach out to other collectors via social media or message boards.
I have notice a slight increase in prices.. and quality items are moving. Prices are overall still low. So anyone who wants to dabble in the comics, cards, figures, jewelry can still find loads of bargains.
I still see quite a bit on old new stock popping up. One thing I have noticed.. you have to be really careful and look at the photos especially on the figures. I've seen quite a few damaged cards and boxes. If are the kind of collector who keeps things sealed, you have have to shell out a bit more looking for mint examples.
Personally I feel if you are going to hang the figure on the wall a bent card is perfectly fine. Dust and other lint will settle on the figure and cleaning will be a huge hassle.
So if you are not using display cases, don't bother with super mint.
Even with cards that I have in penny sleeves and top loaders.. dust finds it's way in over the years. I can't see it, but when scanning at a high resolution there it is. Luckily it's on the outside. It does make the scan not look so great, so I will probably re scan a few of those I'm not happy with.
I have done some extensive digging around the the net.. and it's strange to say there are not too many cards I don't have. Basically what I have up on my want list is it.
I'm going to add a few postcards. As for Lucy's cards in other TV show sets.. there's quite a few i'm looking for and of course they are very expensive. LOL
One thing that is kinda interesting, and it's extremely popular is minimalism. This is a very dirty word for collectors. LOL. But in spite of always being a crazy collector, I have always been of the minimalist kind. When kids had tons of Star Wars figures.. I just wanted Yoda. And I still have him. :) He's so tiny and small.
Also, I like paper and thin things. Like stamps, CD's, small items. Lots of small items can start to take up a lot of space, and that's when I do a purge. So some things I still have from my childhood have survived all of the down sizing and purging over the years. Even with trading cards.. I over collected on some sets, and had to weed out what I wanted to keep. And of course I had quite a few Xena Items, that are long gone since I lost interest in the items. I enjoy the minimalist philosophy that every item should make you happy and be important. Xena cards are a perfect fit for my collecting habits. And most importantly for me Xena is my favorite TV show, and has so many of the best stories.
There are other shows I love, and have watched over and over like Star Trek TOS, The X-Files.. and many lesser known ones that I savor on DVD. But Xena is the best, and remains a crazy and beautiful show. It's been quite the collecting journey but I have finally found the perfect balance.
I enjoy watching you tube videos other collectors of made of their collection. Drool. And I enjoy their journeys as well.
I finished redoing all of the page names, to the full card set names. And I re-sized a few scans. This weekend I'm going to get going on expanding the checklists, and scanning more back images. I figure going at at easy pace, should take about a week per large set.
As I slowly go though everything I will also add more details and descriptions, and re-do any scans that don't look good. Then go onto putting the dimensions. I will probably adjust the layout of a few sets.
I'm glad I have got a chance to really get going on cleaning things up. I have re done a couple of scans. And there's a few more I need to do. I have started to name all of the pages fully, no abbreviations. And after that is done. I will start filling out the checklist more, and adding dimensions on the odd size cards.
I have also found some new cards I didn't have so those will be added. And I need to list out all of my dupes for trading.
It's difficult to know how complete my collection is. I can only compare it to things I find on line, and by looking at eBay. I am hoping I have a solid grasp on what's out there, but I'm sure there's much more to be discovered. :)
The entire first phase of this site is complete, and I can now share it! What's left to do? Add more descriptions, more checklist details. Re-size a few scans to be a more uniform size re-do a few scans that came out too blurry, and I may have to take them out of the plastic to scan. Add dimensions and, more back scans. And add a few more cards I have.
And change all of the page names to the full set name. So basically, cleaning everything up. And, I have to list out all of the cards I have to trade.
Yay! There is finally a light at the end of the tunnel! All I have left to do is scan all of my autograph and costume cards, and a few promos. I expect that to be about 80 or so scans in groups including a lot of back scans. There's a real possibility, I can make the site public tomorrow night.
After a site is finished, I have to add many links to the pages, so you don't have to use the back button to navigate, And many of the page titles I want to put in the full set name.
After that.. that's it.
The 1st photo is my Card Case.. and That has all of my autograph cards and costume cards. The second photo is the case closed with the Xena TGC deck boxes sitting on top.
And the third photo are my cards on two shelves with other books and things. I do have a small box that has the official card binders, and a 11 x 17 binder that holds small posters and other items.
I like how my card collection is very accessible.
I really thought I was going to finish the site this weekend... but wow.. I still need to scan three more large sets, all of the autos/costume cards and watermark, upload and load onto the pages all of the scans and photos(binders, large items) I've done the past week. It's been fun and I can't wait till it's all done.
My Xena/Herc card collection all fits on one shelf and one large hinged case for the autos/costume and sketch cards. I'm pleased that it's relatively small.
Two things I have learned.. I really love working with my collection, and this project will be taking a few weeks longer. I have made good progress. All of the Topps sections is done. And I'm working on the Rittenhouse cards now. But scanning and uploading certainly is very time consuming. But I'm enjoying the process. I hope this weekend to finish scanning on the CCG's and all of the misc cards.. I wish I could find more time during the week in the evenings after work to work on this. Just need to juggle.
I'm pretty happy. I just finished scanning the three Topps sets, and everything is looking good scanning though plastic. My test also turned out well. I have lots more to scan inc, all of the autos and costume cards.
After I make the site public I can go back and scan the backs of a few items. There are some large items that I will have to photograph. It's not the best solution but it works. I have been adding to my collection getting some Lucy Lawless autos and cards from Spartacus, and Battlestar. It's fun. I enjoy those shows.
I have finished listing out all of the sets I have, and cards I don't have. And I have just started scanning. Kinda a test that I'm going to try to have the first images up tomorrow.
Hopefully then I can just scan scan and more scanning till it's all done and uploaded. My estimate on when I will be done is by the end of February.
There is a beginning a middle and an end. Hercules came on the air, and some Xena novelty's came out along with it. Xena was on the air and lots of stuff came out. Even after the series was over there was quite a bit of things being released.. and as far as cards go, the last Rittenhouse set in 2007 was pretty much it.
Now with the reboot in work, and the 20th anniversary passed there is a new comic book series on the way. Who knows, perhaps more cards will come out as well.
One of the things that I think of quite a bit..is that the world of Xena collecting is extremely small compared to other licenses out there. Yet the show was so successful that there is a wide variety of fun things to collect.
The past few weeks I have been getting caught up on the on line market for Xena items on ebay.. and there's very few things if anything new to me.
The items that are new.. are newly produced and not from the era the show was on the air. So anyone who wants to jump in and start collecting of fill in your collection now is a great time. Prices are on the low side.
I'm pretty happy sticking to the cards. That said, I have other things of course. The CD's I really love, I have some stamps (real ones) and the videos games I played and finished many years ago. Also I have some artwork from the Dark Horse comic series I picked up at comic con dirt cheap in a crap pile of other artwork. They had many other pages I did not get. I got the ones that feature Xena and Gab.
I dabbled in the comics, but I wasn't crazy about the story lines.. and the multi cover thing I hate. Of course it's great if you collect comics.
There are a few covers that are stunning and I really love.
Here they are:
Issues #1 and #13 are simply outstanding
from the Dark Horse Series
And for the Topps comics.. by far the Alex Ross cover is the best.
I'm sure everyone has their favs.
So we are at the end.. of the latest Xena cycle of items.
The reboot and the excitement for it.. will bring a new cycle.
The page content is moving along at a good pace. And I created a banner! In going through my old scans, I have found many can be used. There are some that will have to be re-scanned. They are at a too low a resolution. As I found when working on my music sites, a web page works so much better than a excel sheet. I'm really happy to have everything on pages. I have decided to scan all of the base cards. I will probably do them by the page and though the plastic.
Then there is the issue of watermarks. I don't want to use them. They are time consuming, and an eyesore. I have been looking around at other card and Xena site's and they all use watermarks. I'm going to trust their reasons and just do it. This will mean the site will take longer to complete. That's ok.
I'm still trying to complete Dangerous Liaisons.. It's going to take a while. LOL
I decided to create this page after getting back into collecting trading cards. This is after I have been away from it for about eight years. Over the holiday's I had a chance to take a look at all of my cards. I had really forgotten how many I had and how awesome they are. I decided to keep on collecting and also found on a old CD-R, many lists and scans of my collection from years ago.
I was looking on the web for some Xena card sites, and I found the same ones I had seen years ago, and they had not been updated. And since I have made a couple of other sites for my music collection.. I was thinking..."make a Xena card web-site of my collection"
I hope others will find it useful and enjoy it. I have picked up a few cards I did not have. There are still many treasure's out there to be found.. and since I stopped right at the end of Rittenhouse's archive run of Xena cards.. I may have missed my chance to obtain some eaisly.
All of the scans on this site are of my actual collection. All info has been compiled by me based on my collection. So if the data is there.. and no scan.. that means I don't have it.
I have not yet decided if I will scan all of the base cards. it's doable. Just not sure if I want do all of the work.
