Well, if he has a 360, I'd ask if any of his games are on the "Does not play" list. If they are, or if he just doesn't want to trade a moderately reliable console for a notoriously unreliable one, regular xboxes are really cheap.

I think the original system would display an orange ring for soemthing not working, but the onlything I could think off hand would be the video not working, since I can get that by turning it on with no video out.

Could be the disk drive. I've replaced a few Xbox disc drives, and I seem to remember a solid orange light when the IDE cable is not working or unplugged, but the power cable remains plugged in. Or maybe I'm just imagining that.

Well he just brought it over. I hooked it up and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Must have not been pluged in properly or something. So anyhow, all is good with the xbox. The dude is flat broke so me fixing it for him would have been his only option if ti was dead.

No, most likely the gears in the disk drive needs to be cleaned. Just get yourself some canned air, open the console up, and spray all the crap out of there. While you're at it, you might as well polish off the disk lens too. If you have an original Xbox, this is something you'll need to do every few years to keep it running.

So i have about 900 classic Xbox games games and it will only show 348 of them. I have tried a fresh copy of aurora and 3 different Xbox. No matter what i do only 348. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Yes i checked the HDD, no errors. Scan paths all good and i can launch the games that are loaded with no issues. I can usually load the consoles with 3k games 3 two TB external HDDs and a 2TB external and no issues. Hell with even the indi games which are over 3500 it works fine with them. (i have a 1PB server in basement for various reasons lol) But when it comes to Xbox original games they dont seem to load past 348. I sell tons and tons of consoles and no issues unless its with Xbox original and aurora. FSD works fine with the games. Its just stumping me and a little aggravating when I'm so swamped. I mess with something until it works completely and this is bugging me.

If you can figure out what the problem is, then we might be able to fix the issue. it could be something stupid like a character error in a game name, but it is hard to tell without adding each game 1 name at a time until the problem arises.

I recently acquired an original xbox 1.2 model from my local game store. He sold it to me as broken for $12 because it was really loud. When I booted it up it gave me an error 07 message. After some research I found either my IDE cable was bad, wasn't plugged in all the way, or I had a dead hard drive. I unplugged and replugged the ide cable and then bought a new known working one on ebay and tried it. Still no dice. So now I'm thinking I need to replace the whole hard drive. But I'm still really new to the console repair world and I have no idea where to even begin! I know I need to softmod my system for any new hard drive to work, but how is that possible if I can't even get to the menu after the error screen? I've heard of a modchip called the Aladdin x2 or something, but how does that all work? If anyone out there could provide some insight I'd be grateful for it. I also dont understand alot of computer words so bear with me if I sound confused. I do have a laptop for transferring files if that's something I need to do. Thank you in advance!

Edit- I read somewhere that if I unplug the IDE cable from the hard drive I should get an error 08. If it's still error 7 then it could be the disc drive. I took out my disc drive from my personal working xbox and it still didn't work in the broken one with the same error 7 code so that wasn't it either. Also my new IDE cable worked fine in my personal xbox as well so it wasn't a faulty cable.

@panicmode98 you do know by now that you can not simply add a new drive. It is "married " to the motherboard, so you would have to try to either clone your old drive, or get the hard drive key of your xbox. There are numerous tutorials and discussions about this online, check places like this as well as on here If you take a look around you could also replace the PCB on your existing drive, for as long as it does not have a mechanical failure, then use a new drive and clone it. Use this guide to replace the drive. Error 7 is commonly caused by a bad IDE cable or a bad HDD. Try to set the jumpers on your HDD to something like Master or Cable Select and see if that makes a difference. Since you said you replaced both the cable and the drive already, the issue could then be with the IDE controller on your motherboard. Hope this helps, good luck.

The best original Xbox games are a showcase for Microsoft's ingenuity as it fought its way into the console market. The system launched alongside Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001, and the combination of a powerful, online-ready console and one of the best FPS games made a compelling argument that Xbox could fill the void left by the demise of the Sega Dreamcast. The best games for original Xbox were aimed at a maturing audience of video game players, looking for PC quality titles on console, and it's a plan that worked for Microsoft.

They might not have the incredibly advanced, turbo-charged game engines behind them that power the more modern best Xbox Series X games, but the classic titles on this list demonstrate the impressive back catalogue that helped the Microsoft brand cement its place among the greats. From competitive racing games, high-octane action experiences, fun RPGs, and innovative first-person shooters, the best original Xbox games are legendary for a reason. Here's a look at our top picks for the ultimate trip down memory lane.

The game (originally before the April 2010 shutdown) featured multiplayer (via Xbox Live or System Link), single-player, and training modes with a variety of both bomb defusal and hostage maps. Unlike Condition Zero, CSX does not have a Tour of Duty mode with various tasks that need to be accomplished. Instead, the single-player mode integrates the Counter-Strike bot, providing a multiplayer-like single player experience. This is in fact the first title in the series with the bot officially integrated.

It is not known when exactly development on the Xbox version of Counter-Strike was started, but the game was originally developed jointly by Gearbox Software and Valve Software.[2] Xbox was chosen as the platform due to its potential in online gaming.[3] At this point, the game was to be based on the version of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero that was being developed by Gearbox Software and was to feature the single-player and multiplayer skirmish modes.[2][3]

The game was announced in May 2002 at E3 and was slated to be released in 2003.[4] Shortly after the event, Gabe Newell stated that they were pretty far "in terms of getting the game up and running", but that Gearbox and Valve were struggling with figuring out how to utilize the Xbox hardware to its full potential.[2] It is likely that Gearbox Software withdrew from the development of the game in July 2002, at the same time as they ceased development on Condition Zero.[5] No media or screenshots of this version of the game were ever released. 152ee80cbc
