Bio

I am an Assistant Professor in Social Inequalities (tenure-track) at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, Centre UCS in Montréal, QC, where I am also the Director of the Groupe d'études en statistique sociale (GESS) / Social Statistics Study Group (SSSG), a new research network for quantitative methods researchers.

I am also Associate Member of the Center on Population Dynamics (CPD) at McGill University, member of the Chaire-réseau de recherche sur la jeunesse (CRJ) du Québec at INRS, and Associate Editor at the Canadian Review of Sociologie / Revue canadienne de sociologie. I completed my graduate work at McGill University, and worked in the Income Statistics Division at Statistics Canada and as Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto.

My research focuses on labour markets, education, stratification, careers, organizations, and comparative political economy using quantitative methods. I am interested in understanding the transformation of work and labour markets in Canada, the US and Europe over the past 40 years. In my most recent work, I explore the drivers of trends in job stability in Canada, the UK and Germany, and the consequences of job hopping on hiring outcomes in different US occupations. This research has been published in the British Journal of Industrial Relations, Work, Employment and Society, and the International Labour Review.

In addition, my research focuses on the drivers of intergenerational income transmission in Canada (published in Canadian Public Policy). I also conduct research on education, skills and labour market outcomes, and developed an expertise in the use of administrative and integrated datasets.

I am currently dedicating some of my time to research on labour market inequality in the context of COVID-19, with a first paper published in the Canadian Review of Sociology

My postdoctoral work was funded by a fellowship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC), and my graduate work was supported by the SSHRC, the Canadian Research Data Centres Network (CRDCN) and the Quebec Inter-university Center for Social Statistics (QICSS). My current research is funded by the SSHRC, the Ontario Council for Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT), the CRDCN, the CIRANO, and the Research Initiative for Education and Skills (RIES) at the University of Toronto.
