social media impact

Project Description:

In this project we are tasked with describing the impact social media has on the world and the impact it has on ourselves. 

Social Media Addiction Survey:

After taking the survey it told me. "You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?" I agree with this statement because i am on social media a lot. I think i should rethink how much i am on social media a day. 

Social Media's Impact on Society:

I feel that social media is impacting society in a good and bad way. Social media gives us great outlets for news and important information in our country every day. But social media also is a big distraction and brain rotter if it is overused or used in the wrong ways. Mostly everyone uses social media in their free time to look at others' posts or to look at things that aren't important. People use these apps to just scroll mindlessly for hours. I feel if people use social media in helpful ways in their everyday lives, they are useful and have a good impact, but most people use them to take their minds off other things that could be more important like work or school. Overall, I think that right now social media has a bad impact on our society.

lessons learned: 

While doing this assignment I learned that social media is a big part of everyone's day to day lives including mine. social media is a big part of how people use their free time and get information. I learned what Pew Reasearch is and kind of how it works.
