Hi! I have seen several questions, and comments about storage space being full but none I could find specifically addressed this particular issue. I have a folder that says "out of space" but there is plenty of storage available on both my hard drive and in my iCloud storage. I also have an issue in that when I select that particular folder, I don't have the option to upload it to the could, even though I have selected all documents to upload. Can someone please tell me how to make sure my folder is backed up, since I can't seem to figure it out?! Thanks so much in advance, I appreciate your help!

I don't have any large files stored on my computer, they are almost all documents I have created, not videos, or music, orange anything that would take up a lot of space. And with 200 gigs of cloud storage, I don't understand why the documents I've created in that particular folder aren't being saved.

Did you changed any read and write permissions in home folder ? you can sign out Apple ID from Mac system preferences and again sign in with same credentials ( are you using two factor authentication or still using secondary authentication account in which three answers for security questions , date of birth , rescue mail address and its password is added - in that iCloud keychain verification code is required that must be in records previously as it will be used when you again sign in to set up keychain .

It appears that this is by design and is related to the fact that TrustedInstaller is the folder owner. This is the result of some software installation. You will see the same issue with c:\program files, and c:\program files (x86). But if you look at any subfolder for software that you installed, the owner will be administrators. On those folders you can change permissions and create new subfolders like C:\program files\Intel\MyFolder.

Don't manually create folders in F:\Program Files (x86). You should be able to create new application subfolders like F:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\MySubFolder. Or use a different base folder like F:\MyPrograms".

If Windows is resetting folder permissions to read only, then I believe that the folder is registered with the installer and the installer is resetting permissions to what was specified by the applications setup.exe.

I'm realizing my mistake of not making custom folders more and more through this process. I am going to try and copy all of my files out of the program files drive. I fear once I free my files from the evil control of TrustedInstaller, that their copies will be stuck taking up space forever. How do I delete a folder I have no ownership of?

You should first uninstall the software that you have installed into that folder. If you just delete the folder you might break the installation and put yourself in a situation where you can't uninstall or update some software.

It is always a good idea to maintain a separate back up of both the official downloaded packages (and possibly community folder) in a location independent of that used by MSFS. In my case I have both backed up on a second hard drive. (The back up is a simple copy and paste of the two relevant folders into a new directory. However, this needs to be done after every sim update to ensure it is up to date)

Some folks who are using AIG AI traffic addon are also running into issues with filepath name lengths. Moving these folders from default location to another location, e.g. C:\MSFS, eliminates this problem.

Note: I cannot confirm that this method will also protect those who are using gamepass. I have heard of cases where this custom folder is also wiped during an un-install. If using gamepass it is a good idea to have a completely separate back up independent of any folders used by or linked to by MSFS- a separate hard drive is recommended.

A final note. If you are using any 3rd party applications that need to know the location of your community folder, e.g. applications that install content into your community folder, then you will also need to update those applications with the new path to your moved community folder.

Would I be correct in assuming those folders would remain in Packages, and that they would remain operational after moving the Official and Community folders to their new location? Or would those planes would have to be reinstalled into the new location as well?

To ease any doubt, I assure you I am the administrator of my computer, my anti-virus is OFF. I checked the security of the folders and I do have FULL control. To avoid any doubt, I created another account with admin permissions and verified it has access to the folder/contents. However, I get the same problem. I even tried pasting other folders/files to the custom path without issues.
