Story Description
Working on a space station, the D.S.S., that oversees the maintenance and energy distribution of a Dyson Sphere, Luwall is unhappy with how the energy is distributed amongst its dependents. As such, they have decided to take matters into their own hands and plans to take over the space station to handle the energy distribution in a way that they feel is more fair. Although it appears that they will be taking on this task alone, as the entire space station stands against them.
Game Description
Fight your way through a space station in intense reaction driven turn-based combat! Enhance your abilities and salvage upgrades from defeated enemies to take control of the energy distribution of a mighty Dyson Sphere!

Description: A stern leader who hates being taken advantage of. Uses force to make things go their way.
Combat
DySoon is a turn based action RPG. When the player attacks on their turn, they must hit the attack key at the right time to deal the most amount of damage. Attack too early, and the attack will be weak. Attack too late, and the attack will fail entirely. Attacking right before the attack would fail will result in the most amount of damage.
Enemy attacks on the other hand can be parried. Parrying at the right time will reflect all damage back at the attacker.
Salvage
Luwall does not get stronger through typical RPG means. Enemies do not drop XP. Instead they drop salvage. Salvage can be used to increase Luwall's stats. However, as such, enemies do NOT respawn, so salvage is limited. Killing enemies of specific types will result in getting arm salvage, which can either unlock, or allow Luwall to enhance an arm which can be used in combat.
Salvage can be found scattered throughout the levels, but only stat increasing salvage.
Skill Tree
Luwall has a skill tree. Getting 1, 5, 10, and 20 salvage of any given arm will unlock levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively. Aside from level 1, an ability of the previous level must be unlocked to unlock a skill below it. Only one ability can be unlocked per level for any given arm. The player can freely switch which skill they unlock at any time.Â
Abilities
Parry
Ability Description: Pressing R will make Luwall enter a Parry Stance. If they are attacked withing .15 seconds, Luwall will parry the attack, dealing 100% strength damage to the attacker. It does not reflect any secondary effects.
Maintenance
Ability Description: Heals 10% of Luwall's max health and removes 1 debuff currently applied.
Crushing Arm
Ability Description: Winds up for a punch that deals 200% damage to the target.
Usage: Deal damage. Good at dealing consistent damage to enemies. Has the highest base damage.
Upgrades

Usage: Deal more damage the longer the fight goes. Good when going against 1 enemy with high amount of health.
Here Comes the Big One
Ability Description: When attacking a target with Crushing Arm, deal an extra 200% damage to them and apply Crushed to them. Enemies that are Crushed have their defense lowered by 50% but do not take the extra 200% damage from this skill.
Usage: Deal a lot of damage once and lower defense. Good at dealing a lot of damage upfront or to apply a defense down debuff while still dealing good damage. Good against a lot of enemies with a small amount of health or big enemies that need to be debuffed.
They're Already Dead
Ability Description: When attacking a target that has their defense lowered with Crushing Arm, the final damage dealt to them is multiplied by 1.5.

If the enemy already has a stack of Leakage, double their current stacks of Leakage. Targets lose .1% of their current health per stack of Leakage at the start of their turn.

It's Even Funnier the Second Time
Ability Description: When using Crushing Arm, attack twice.
Usage: Attack twice. Good for stacking damage buffs like Beat Down and Leakage.
Get a Load of This Guy
Ability Description: When attacking a target that does not have any status effects with Crushing Arm, the final damage dealt to them is multiplied by 3.
Usage: Deal a large amount of damage. Good to get a big chunk of damage while applying debuffs from "Here Comes the Big One" and "Not on the Carpet!" Can also be used with Freezing Arm's "Hard Reset" to deal a large amount of damage again.
Rusting Arm
Ability Description: Prepare to launch rusting fluid that deals 25% base damage to the target. When the attack connects, inflict the the target with a stack of Rust. Each stack of Rust will deal 50% damage to the target at the start of their turn.

Clinical Trial
Ability Description: The first stack of Rust on a target will deal an additional 100% damage.
Usage: Make the first Rust stack deal more damage. Good when "Rusting Arm" is a supporting attack just meant to apply debuffs or to make "Rusting Arm" deal more damage upfront.

Freezing Arm
Ability Description: Charge a freeze ray that deals 100% base damage to the target. Upon connecting, delay the targets next action by 50%.
Usage: Delay the enemy's next action. Good at allowing a wider damage window while still dealing decent damage.
Upgrades
Crevasse
Ability Description: When attacking a target with Freezing Arm, apply a stack of Brittle. For every stack of Brittle the target has, decrease their defense by 15%.
Usage: Lower enemy's defense. Lowers defense more than "I'm Melting" resulting in more damage quicker.
It's Cold as Balls

DySoon was a passion project that serves as a sort of elaborate tech demo of what I would want my dream game to look like, that being a turn based parry RPG where skills are upgraded rather than replaced and are upgraded by defeating enemies of a respective type. I wish that I was able to integrate unlocked abilities into the overworld exploration, sort of like a Metroidvania, but that would've ended up going way over scope for how small the levels actually were. Overall, I'm very happy with the end result and the people working with me did a great job handling the non-ui art side of the game.
