Hi, I recently started learning MIT App Inventor. I started a topic yesterday about something advanced using CustomWebView, but guess my basics itself isn't correct. I wanted to create an app with which I could use whatsapp webview. Here is the block -

Atleast it seemed to work till yesterday. But from today after opening the app for the first time, it opens whatsapp web, but from the second time onwards it is opening mobile view. If I clear cache and clear data from app settings, it again loads the whatsapp webview for the first time and thereafter it opens mobile page. I searched the net if someone else had this issue. Then I came across a github post, which described the same issue - On first load the app loads the desktop page but then it loads the mobile page ie www.whatsapp.com Issue #1 Poujhit/WhatsAppWeb-App GitHub . I tried adding extra checks to my app by clearing cache and also checking the useragent, but nothing would solve this. Can you please tell on where I am doing it wrong?

You should be able to avoid the xdg popup by blocking JavaScript for api.whatsapp.com through site permissions. Since the webpage has a "continue to chat" link that redirects to web.whatsapp.com, assuming I understood the problem correctly, that link is the solution.

Hi, try the TOR private tab, this is my solution, but this is very annoying for me, because I need to have two windows open. This problem is present in ubuntu too. Version 1.39.120 Chromium: 102.0.5005.99 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Click on the AA icon in the Safari web browser tab on your iPad. If Request Mobile Website is displayed, clicking on Request Mobile Website will make it display Request Desktop Website and vice versa. When Request Desktop Website is enabled/displayed, type web.whatsapp.com in the web address box of the Safari web browser tab, click on the Enter button, and you will see a QR Code on WhatsApp's web page. In reply to Chris_Kez:So you can use Whatsapp on a device with out a sim as long as you can verify the txt message they send. For example you could use google voice or another service to receive the verification txt. After that you can just use wifi. So I am guessing that is how its going to work. Also Microsoft is currently pushing the LTE capable windows 10 devices so they may be marketing it for those also.

See what I just did? Since object-src directive is missing, it means I can use object to load an iframe(ish) to any origin of my choice. That way I'll be able to run any external code with no size limits and no problems! All that is left to do is to execute that code on web.whatsapp.com domain and not on my own iframe's domain, otherwise that'll be pretty useless.

To achieve that, I simply use the XSS to load the iframe and then listen to the messages that are posted by different windows. I then use the iframe to post a message to the top window with the content of the external code.
