So here is my process. We will need 10,739 signatures! It's best to gather about 13,000 - 14,000 to ensure we have enough since some will be invalidated. All people who sign must live in District 3 in the City of Seattle and once the Judicial process is done we will have 180 days to gather the signatures.
This committee is registered with the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission and we are in the process of registering with the City of Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission.
Here are the current steps in the Recall Election of Council member Sawant.
• Step 1 – I send via email the attached Statement of Charges supporting the Recall Election of Council member Sawant to the King County Department of Elections, King County Elections Director, Julie Wise - COMPLETED
• Step 2 – Julie Wise forwarded the Statement of Charges to Council member Sawant - COMPLETED
• Step 3 – Julie Wise forwarded the Statement of Charges to Dan Satterberg, King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office - COMPLETED
• Step 4 - Dan Satterberg, King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will create “Petition to Determine Sufficiency of Recall Charges and Adequacy of Ballot Synopsis (LOU) and Certification and Petition for Hearing before a King County Superior Court Judge by September 2, 2020 - IN PROGRESS
• Step 5 – Hearing before a King County Superior Court Judge will be schedule before September 17, 2020
• Step 6 – Appeals to the Washington State Supreme Court - October - November 2020
• Step 5 – Once the Washington State Supreme Court rules (for us hopefully) we will begin our signature petition gathering process. - Begin Date: TBD
