Dr. Pradeep K Narotam is an internationally renowned Neurosurgery Specialist with more than 25 years of diverse experience in brain & spine surgery. Dr. Narotam is board certified by College of Medicine of South Africa (FCS 1993) for which he was awarded the Krynauw Medal for exceptional performance, the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC 1997), the American College of Surgeons (FACS 2004), and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS). Dr. Narotam has been awarded a PhD in Health Services from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dr. Narotam graduated from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa where he earned his medical degree in 1984 followed by a neurosurgery residency at the University of Natal and Wentworth Hospital. Concurrently he completed his Masters in Medicine in neurosurgery in 1993. His dissertation examined the role of collagen matrix (DuraGen) in dural repair for which he was awarded two patents: in 1999, for Dural/ Meningeal Repair Product using collagen Matrix (USA); and in 2000, for Product for promoting Dural or Meningeal tissue growth comprising Matrix (EU). Dr. Narotam completed a clinical fellowship in general and complex spine surgery at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson, Arizona in 1995.
He held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg, Canada where he performed complex spine surgery, neurotrauma and neurovascular procedures from 1995-2000. In addition, Dr. Narotam served as the director of neurosurgery and research and development at St. Boniface Hospital Research Center in Winnipeg Canada until 2001. In 2001, Dr. Narotam was appointed as assistant professor at Creighton University Medical Center where he was instrumental in establishing the state of the art center for neurocritical care management with the introduction of brain tissue oxygen monitoring. He rendered services to US active military at CUMC and veterans at the Omaha VAMC. From 2008 to 2021, he was been affiliated with Union Health Neurosurgery & Spine in Terre Haute, Indiana, providing community based general neurosurgical care with focus on complex degenerative spine procedures. He continued his commitment to veterans from the Danville, Illinois service area. Dr. Narotam had held licenses in many jurisdictions.. Dr Narotam has more than 30 Publications to his credit and has made almost 90 scientific presentations. He has been invited to deliver more than 20 lectures in the field of Neurosurgery & critical care at various conferences, symposia, institutes and meetings.
