The Valmere Farms Experience
Valmere Farms has been serving the Westville area since 1948. Founded by Achiel and Suzanne Matthys their farm provided Dairy, Mint and vegetables to the surrounding areas and Chicago. My Parents continued farming some of the original land from my grandparents in the 80's and 90's until I took over in early 2000. As the third generation to carry on the farm name and continue the tradition that my grandfather started about using the ground in a sustainable manner. We currently uses rotational grazing with both our cattle and elk and also use crush gravel pads for high use areas to prevent ground compaction. These techniques and others are helping save the soil and providing a safer environment for our livestock.
