About Leadpro Enterprise Limited
Leadpro Enterprise Limited is a Nairobi-based welding and fabrication company dedicated to the design, fabrication, and empowerment of vulnerable youth. Since 2016 we have operated a metal fabrication workshop that provides practical training and generates income to support Good Samaritan orphanage operations.
We are now entering an exciting new phase. With funding confirmed, we are expanding the workshop with three industrial-grade machines — a 1.5kW fiber laser cutter, a CNC press brake, and a 2000W laser welder — that will transform our capabilities and open significant new revenue streams. This expansion will create 8–12 direct jobs, train over 30 youth annually in KNQA-certified programmes, and generate a sustainable income stream for the orphanage for decades to come.
We are looking for a Workshop Manager who is not just an operator — but a builder. Someone who wants to be present from Day 1, help shape how this workshop is set up, and grow with the organisation as it scales.
Why This Role Is Different
Most workshop manager roles ask you to manage an operation that already exists. This one asks you to help build it. You will be hired before the machines arrive, so that you can:
• Review and give input on the workshop layout, workflow design, and safety setup
• Study the equipment manuals and complete the supplier’s online training programme before Day 1
• Join client conversations with Maji Milele Limited and Worldserve International — our two confirmed customers — so you understand what they need from the outset
• Help recruit and onboard the Lead Technician and youth apprentices
• Contribute to pricing, quoting, and production planning before the first commercial job
This is a rare opportunity to join an organization at the founding stage of a commercial operation, with a clear social mission, confirmed funding, and real customers already placing orders. Your input will directly shape how this workshop runs for years to come.
Already confirmed:
• A donor loan of USD 55,000 approved for equipment, fit-out, and working capital
• Maji Milele Limited—KES 533,450 invoice fulfilled May 2026 (water meter boxes, solar panel holders)
• Worldserve International—KES 266,000 signed purchase order June 2026 (powder-coated boxes, metallic tap water boxes)
• Three machines ordered from Shandong Victory Industry, China (20–30-day lead time)
Role & Responsibilities
Pre-launch (before machines arrive)
• Study machine manuals and complete all supplier-provided online training for the fiber laser cutter, CNC press brake, and laser welder
• Review and finalise workshop floor plan, electrical layout, and safety protocols in consultation with management
• Attend client meetings with Maji Milele and Worldserve to understand their requirements and build the relationship
• Assist in developing production pricing templates, job cards, and quality control checklists
• Support recruitment of the Lead Technician and two youth apprentices
Day-to-day operations (post-launch)
• Oversee all workshop operations across laser cutting, CNC bending, laser welding, powder coating, and general fabrication
• Manage production scheduling to ensure on-time delivery to customers
• Maintain quality standards and conduct final inspection on all outgoing jobs
• Ensure health, safety, and fire regulations are consistently observed
• Manage machine maintenance schedules and liaise with the supplier’s remote support team
• Monitor and control material and consumable costs (steel, stainless, aluminium, argon/nitrogen gas, powder, consumables)
People & training
• Mentor and supervise the Lead Technician and 2–6 youth apprentices on the job
• Support the delivery of KNQA-certified training courses for external students
• Contribute to performance reviews, stipend management, and skills development plans for apprentices
Commercial & reporting
• Prepare job quotations and liaise with the Sales & Client Liaison on new enquiries
• Track workshop KPIs: machine utilisation, revenue per service line, reject rates, and on-time delivery
• Report monthly to the Leadpro directors on production output, costs, and surplus
What We Are Looking For
Essential qualifications & experience
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related TVET qualification (Kenya Polytechnic, NTTI, Riara Technical, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on metal fabrication experience in a commercial or industrial workshop
• Demonstrable experience with at least one of: CNC machinery, laser cutting, MIG/TIG welding, or powder coating
• Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication specifications
• Experience supervising a small team (2–5 people)
Desirable (not essential)
• Exposure to fiber laser cutting or CNC press brake operation
• Experience managing material procurement and supplier relationships in Nairobi
• Understanding of KNQA or NITA training frameworks
• Prior work in a social enterprise, NGO-linked business, or community-based organisation
Personal qualities
• Entrepreneurial mindset — you see this as building something, not just running a machine
• Strong ownership mentality: you take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks
• Patient and mentorship-oriented: comfortable working alongside and teaching young people from difficult backgrounds
• Honest and organised: able to manage costs, timesheets, and job records accurately
• Comfortable with ambiguity in the early stages — the workshop is being built and your input will shape it
What We Offer
Benefit Detail
Salary: KES 40,000 per month, rising to KES 50,000 in Year 2 and KES 60,000 in Year 3, subject to performance

Founding bonus: A one-time recognition payment upon successful workshop launch (first commercial job delivered on time and to quality standard)
Performance incentive: Annual bonus linked to workshop surplus from Year 2 onward
Training: Full access to supplier-provided machine training (Shandong Victory online programme and manuals). Support for further professional development where relevant.
