Hi, this is Ruiqi☺️ Welcome to my personal blog😘
If anything you read on this site resonates with you or helps you in any way, that alone makes me incredibly happy.
One of my favorite characters: Jolyne Cujoh from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.
She starts off as a girl who feels lost without her boyfriend, over the course of the story, she transforms into a powerful and wise woman who faces her challenges head-on.
At the core of my beliefs are freedom and independence. I’ve carried these values with me for as long as I can remember, and I believe they were deeply rooted in me through the way I was raised. My mother is a remarkably independent and emotionally grounded woman. Her support and wisdom have been a guiding light for me at many turning points in my life. Whether it’s in books or films, I’ve always been drawn to female characters who are strong, courageous, and self-reliant.
I was first introduced to feminism during my university years, and it has since become a lens through which I understand both society and myself. I’m particularly inspired by the works of Chizuko Ueno, a renowned Japanese feminist sociologist. Her ideas resonate deeply with me.
I wouldn’t describe myself as highly ambitious, but I do hope to achieve something meaningful in my career. That sense of fulfillment — of building something through my own effort — is part of what drives me to explore the topic of women in the workplace, especially Asian women navigating Western environments.
The feminism I believe in is about equality and claiming the rights we deserve — not superiority, not confrontation, but fairness and dignity.
Culturally, I consider myself a people person. I love learning about different cultures and listening to stories from all kinds of people. That’s why I’ve always been drawn to languages — and why I’ve chosen to see the world through travel whenever I can. Through these experiences, I’ve come to realize just how profoundly culture shapes who we are. I want to use my knowledge and personal experiences to be a bridge between cultures.
In this blog, I explore the cultural differences between Eastern and Western workplace norms, and how they impact Asian women in particular. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions — please feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn 🎉
