At first interaction with this wing you will notice the high build quality &
Light weight material low pack volume/ weight.
Perfect for big mountain missions where you are hiking thousands of vertical feet
Excellent inflation in minimal wind / no wind - Wing bites nicely and snaps overhead with just a little A's
Shorter line-set giving quicker feedback to the pilot and snappy barrel rolls as expected from Ozones most aggressive speedwing lineup.
new lightweight risers featuring a pulley system connecting the B/C bridge for smooth manipulation when flying rear risers. Although I do prefer the more intuitive rear B/C bridge connection point on the Mirage RS2
Very stable profile , When testing in the ground handling environment, induced collapses recover overhead predictably with a little guidance from the pilot.
Launch characteristics - It's getting off the mountain with a nice and controlled run going fast on the 6.5M at 82KG all up on steep launches , the bigger sizes 8m + will still require a dedicated and fast run to launch in light headwind / no wind conditions
On the flip side, with skis on launch, in snow environments with trims out 1/3rd it's staying down in contact with the terrain super nicely as long as you are managing your turns and scrubbing speed.
This has been my dedicated Speedriding wing for the 23/24 season. It's handling slow speeds extremely well and remains overhead even when lines start to get slack on sections of your route. With moderate to high speed it's locked in and confidence inspiring.
I was able to ride down tight couloirs and lines I didn't think possible for my skillset at the beginning of this season after clocking in a few weeks in the french Alps and a whole lot of ski touring/speed-riding in the Wasatch mountains of Utah
One of my favorite parts of owning this Multi tool (R3X) is the versatility for foot launch/speed-riding and it's truly doing both very well.
The glide - it's good even flying the 6.5m I can push for glide over sections of forest and make LZ's in various sections of the wasatch / Europe lines. Although.. after testing the 8m Line it's not nearly as good for glide
Once the pilot induces the turn it swoops/dives with a long recovery arc. This can be heavily manipulated by the setting of your trimmers , I can carve out a less dramatic dive easily by being trimmers flat and just using weight shift /inside outside brakes
trimmers fully out it's flying very steep which is fun for those who have trained for it and are flying in the correct environments with lot's of altitude to play with.
Landing trims in it's got plenty of flair power if you build a little turn into final , Trims out its flaring strong with good timing management.
This is THE best speed-wing I have ever had the pleasure of owning for all around hardcore speedflying / speed-riding. Ozone definitely created an amazing small aircraft here. With the dynamic versatility it should provide the experienced pilot with a mountain tool for big objectives in winter or in summer
