Ete Népe Történelmi Egyesület – People of Ete Historical Society The People of Ete Historical Society was founded on the 25th of November, 2015 by people dedicated to reviving and performing historical heritages, who had already been active in various similar groups formerly. The aim of our society is to preserve and display our nation’s heritage of the IX – XI centuries AD. Consequently, in our group you can find authentic reconstructions of everyday articles of personal use, clothing and weapons of different peoples. These peoples include the Hungarians of the era of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin, the Avars and other peoples of the Eurasian Steppe. We pay special attention to learning the techniques and strategies of contemporary warfare and to displaying them on festivals, tournaments. Besides exercising contemporary weapons combat techniques we aim to master ways of handicraft characteristic of the time, also to make food as our ancestors did. We aim to display this during our camp life. We aim to show the everyday life, the habits and the struggles of these peoples so that those who are interested in this era can get a more authentic historical image of the said period. We also set a goal to reconstruct a village of the time of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin and to cherish Hungarian culture that survived through the ages.
