Jess Logan was the lead female instructor at VX Marksmanship from October 2015 to March 2022. She left her beloved range and team to focus on her daughters, one of which was born in October of 2022.

Jess said, "Becoming an instructor at VX was extremely challenging and rewarding. VX Instructors have to preform at elite levels at instructor training opportunities as well as continually grow their instructor abilities while maintaining their regular work loads and developing new projects that serve the team." While at VX she held many titles, besides the most coveted VX instructor title. She was a Training Coordinator, Marketing Lesion, Administrator, Personal Assistant, and all around full time employee. She also received a TCCC rating as AC Medic along side her team. Jess had the privilege of assisting the owner and lead instructor at VX in training government groups and local police groups. She has also taught law enforcement individuals and church security groups. She has extensive experience instructing tactical pistol and tactical AR, and limited experience instructing and spotting with bolt action rifle for long distance.

During her time at VX she acquired many outside certifications to create her own side project, Cowgirl Recon.  She began a quest to become an example to others and a reminder of hope and perseverance for herself. Jess lovingly accounts her amazing journey becoming Cowgirl Recon and having roots with one of the most prestigious tactical ranges in the country. In 2016 Jess became a Texas License to Carry instructor (LTC), as well as an instructor for the NRA. She is a Chief Range Safety Officer (RSO). She teaches NRA Personal Protection classes (PPOH, PPIH), as well as  NRA pistol. Previously Jess used Cowgirl Recon as a platform to encourage others, as a female ambassador, to join in the training at VX. Cowgirl Recon has officially reopened for Jess full time as of April 2025 in Justin Texas.

Prior to her work experience with firearms starting in 2015, Jess was an environmental consultant with AEI in 2007 after graduating from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science emphasis is Geology in 2005.

The jump in professional endeavors from consultant to tactical instructor is due to a break from 2011-2015; The loss of her husband, Randall, and the focus needed at home on on her eldest daughter, who was not yet 2 at the time. Starting over, Jess realized her love of teaching. With God all things are possible; this year she celebrates 10 years with her sweetheart Tyler and their 3 year old child Charlotte. Her older daughter engages in animal husbandry and has completed her first year in high school with a 4.0 in academics. Jess says that firearm training is a great resource for the qualities needed in character growth for her most important job, a mom.

Jess believes that her experience with firearm manipulation training was therapeutic. She was living alone on a large isolated ranch after her husband passed and was fearful. Through training she was able to gain education and beat fear.  She is very thankful for the fair and equal opportunities she was given to succeed at VX. She says she did it all for love; love to protect her children, love of her community and love and faith in God. This feeds her passion to teach students and nurture them into developing a character that strengthens the community as well as their personal lives. Jess believes that her students deserve the respect of knowing why she is instructing the way she does. She is compassionate about their struggle by coaching empathetically all the while keeping a standard of excellence in training. This is how Jess was taught and is devoted to the calling of tactical coaching. Jess is always giving God and the students the credit when they open up and make the choice strive for self betterment. She is so excited to meet with her students and celebrate their accomplishments, big and small.
