PART 18: KINGSLEY TO CHEDDLETON
PART 18: KINGSLEY TO CHEDDLETON
Part 18 of my walk following the Staffordshire Way. I park the car at Cheddleton and we catch a taxi to Kingsley where we pick up the trail again at St Werburgh's Church. We first get a bit lost through the fields and then make our way down a steep hill to the River Churnet and the Caldon Canal, The Staffordshire Way turns left on the towpath, but we firstly turn right for an extension to our walk with a 1.5km detour to Froghall Wharf at the end of the Caldon Canal, where we visit Hetty's Tearoom and the Lime Kilns. We then head back the 1.5km along the towpath passing the point where the Staffs Way joins (Which I refer to as point A in the video). We then follow the towpath all the way to Cheddleton which is where this section of the Staffs Way heads. We pass through Consall, passing the Churnet Valley Railway along the way and the River Churnet, We finish at Bridge 42 where the A520 crosses the Caldon Canal next to the Flint Mill pub in Cheddleton.
Thd below pictures were taken from nearby Froghall Wharf, Hetty's Tea Shop, which we visited on this walk. This is not on the Staffordshire Way but we did a little extension along the Caldon Canal
